cheap price, cheap product. takes forever to load about 3 to five minuter .maybe the non referb works better

Does everything I need. Plays avi from a flash drive as well as mp3's and haven't had any issues with usb or dvd interface.

Poor quality materials, poor quality construction. I would never purchase another one, it's just a cheap unit all around. Won't play 2 DVD's in row without starting and stopping which is why I bought a new one. Apparently not refurbished to well. Screwed again!

I absolutely LOVE this player's ability to play content from the USB port up to 720 resolution. It's sleek, stylish, and functional. Shipping was fast and product was well protected. Five stars!!!!!

My Dvd player works great. I hooked up a 1 TB Phantom drive to it on the usb port and it recognized it right away. The menu for getting to the files only displays a limited (very limited) number of characters but there are firmware hacks to get around that. Other than the menu issue it does what I need it to do.

My only complaint is the lag from time you push the power button and it turning on. Other then that it has worked great for the past year.

I got this dvd player because i wanted to watch dvd from England and my old dvd was unhackable... Sleek and light ... and hackable!!!

Very pleased with my purchase and the speed of delivery. Compatible with my current TV and in place wiring. Very easy to swap out old DVD player.

The thing just didn't wo what I want. Regular DVD's would skip, burned dvd's would skip. Sometimes digital media just wouldn't show up. OS was awkward and not very stable. Even some of my brand new DVDs would skip. Oh and don't think this was just a lemon, it happened twice. I got the Samsung, no problems.

I really like it, its lightweight and compact . I can play all type of tapes on it ( DVD, CD"S, ETC)

This is the second dvd player bought. I purshased as a christmas gift for my sister she never opened it until April. When my daughter tryied to turn it on it was dead wouldn't work. Thank god I purchased the warranty on it. She recieved it 2 weeks ago and it is working. I would recommened, if your thinking about getting this get the warranty. Also they don't tell you the warranty is only good 1 time, but they do you give you 10% on the new one. Overall it's good for the money.

I got my unit quickly and I have been enjoying it without any problems. The Philips DVP5990 plays every DVD/CD format I have tried and the picture and sound are great. My wife is from Bali, Indonesia and she has a lot of VCDs from home that most DVD players can't play but the Philips DVP5990 sails right through them. The remote was brand new!

Had previously purchased at Best Buy for $20 more...needed a second unit and Overstock came through.

Simply does what its supposed to do. HDMI works fine with my Sony receiver, plays DVDs when needed, as well as my thumb drive with other types of videos as well It even plays all types of region code dvds (only with a very easy modification, courtesy of youtube) which is the main reason I got this particular model. ) What more can I ask for a DVD player especially one at this price. My only advice would be try and buy it new not used or refurbished Enjoy.

DVD player works great, was easy to hook an external hard drive to. Player only came with a red/white audio cable, no video cable was included, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Ehh, worked well with the regular cords. Didn't like the HDMI cords. Which is kind of sad as the hdmi would have looked great.

I had to call Phillips to get a new dvd payer shipped bc the one overstock.com sold me displayed small green dots all over the screen whenever i played a dvd. I troubleshooted constantly and had to get it warrantied by Phillips. Plugged the new one in with the same wires and all and whammo it works perfectly!love the usb port!!

This says "refurbished" but looks brand new. Just bought this after having bought our first LCD tv last Christmas. It's great to finally see the wide screen films in true wide screen instead of everything just being stretched out. The sound takes a little getting used to, but I think I'll figure it out soon enough. There are more features than I'll ever have time to learn, but as long as the dvds are played properly, that's all I wanted. Have bought from Overstock before, and have never had a problem with their deliveries or service.

I bought this as a gift, but already own one. It plays most versions of video and audio, which is great, since I use the flash drive quite often, for movies and photos. Brand new it's 65 bucks and this one was less than 60, including the two year replacement warranty.PROS...good picture, HD upconversion, many video and audio formats accepted, usb port and HDMI output.CONS...doesn't recognize mp4 or pure Divx, lightweight remote with no display light. unit takes about 5 seconds to start after pressing power button

Good price for an upconverting dvd. The usb port makes this dvd player more than just a dvd player . The HDMI makes connecting to a HD TV easy and the sound is great.
