Arrived well packaged in a reasonably short time. The item was refurbished and was therefore, disturbing to us that we found a loose screw in the mechanism. We contacted customer service and they reassured us that it was probably of no consequence. The DVD player has not in any way malfunctioned so far but the loose screw remains a concern. The seller assured us that they made a note of it and they accordingly will cover it by warranty should anything malfunction. In summary, a very good "buy" experience. Would "buy" again from this seller.

The dvd player arrived in two days after I placed the order, so I opened the box to check that everything was proper and found what looks like a new player. Curiosity got the better of me so I had to give it a try. Wow! The sights and sounds were very good. It is very easy to use and now I want one. I purchased this as a Christmas gift for a frequent flier who has a 30g Ipod. I poured over the various models on Overstock and read the reviews here and on other online forums. The DCP850 is a past model that supports older model Ipods. Throughout my research I found mostly positive reviews for the Philips DVD. I have purchased refurbished name brand items from Overstock before and never had a issue, however what I did glean from the reviews was that most users consider portable dvds as a disposable item with a self life of one or two years. For that reason I chose the replacement plan.

great value for your bucks! got the player in short time from ordering and all parts were there and everything worked. the outside cover has a slight scratch but other than that it plays all region of dvd's. and since I travel a bit this comes in handy. It is also great for my ipod movies which can get a bit hard on the eyeballs when watching on the ipod screen. overall great with no reservations

This was perfect portabel DVD player for us! We watch both Greek and American movies on it when we travel! The picture quality is very good and the price for it was great!

We bought this DVD player for our trip to Russia to adopt our son. We wanted to be able to play American DVDs for our first 2 children as well as Russian ones for our new child. This DVD player plays both types of DVD's, has a great picture and was just what we needed for such a long trip.

I've been using a borrowed, smaller portable, non-region free Philips DVD player and was satisfied with it, except for the fact that it wouldn't play some of the movies I wanted to watch. (I live in the Caribbean and we have movies from Europe as well as North America.) This little machine is great. Easy to use. Great picture and sound quality, etc. There's a remote control that pops out and stores away easily, and it can be used with an iPod and SD card. It also came with a car charger. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I loved this unit, it worked so well, that others must have noticed. It was stolen. Besides playing every DVD known to mankind, everything was easy to use. Too many features to list, but it was great.

This little player will get a picture out of just about anything you pop into it! It plays my collection from "Tom's Video" in Beijing as well as my top dollar American purchases, and that's why I got it. You can adjust the picture size on the monitor, but I do wish you could adjust the brightness a little better--it can function as a beacon in a dark room! The one thing I would change on the design is the on-off button--it is very flat against the machine and tiny, so can be a challenge to turn off and on. Oherwise, it is a great little machine that does exactly what I want.

Everything has worked great, from the purchase all the way to using the product with the DVDs' I bought in Sweden for my son showing the movies on our HDTV that sits on our wall. The product has been in the car with him and worked great, the remote works well. We have only used the DVD multi-zone function, so don't know about the iPhone and data card feature, but after a few weeks of use, so far so good.

Picture is very sharp, sound is loud and clear. Overall, a great little dvd for camping, watching while in the hot tub, traveling with kids etc. Would highly recommend.

i got the dvd player to use on a vacation, and it was simple and very easy to use! now i use it for parties and to stay up late watching a movie in bed. the only thing is that the charge only lasts for about 2 and a half hours. also the sound was great! i have a nano 4th generation. iPod and the only iPod that would fit in the slot was the classic. but i could still listen to the music. all my friends wish they had the dvd player! one more thing that i liked about this was that the tv in our hotel room didn't have a dvd player and we could plug in the dvd player and watch dvd's in our room! that is SUPER coolio! i would recommend this to anyone!

We use this dvd player primarly for the kids in the car etc. We play a lot of German dvds and this one plays them all. It is easy to use, light to carry around and works perfectly considering it is refurbished and so affordable. My only complaint is the on/off button. It is very hard to move and very small, but otherwise, nice player!

Ordered this machine because I buy a lot of DVDs from the United Kingdom but sometimes want to watch them on the road before I've had a chance to rip them onto a Region 1 disk. Had an initial rough start - there was a defect in the one I received - but the vendor was very gracious and was very quick to replace the unit. It was well worth the wait, though, since I've been impressed with the machine since I started using it. Couldn't really tell this was a refurbished model. The picture quality is excellent, and it's got the best sound of any portable DVD player I've used yet. The second big draw of this machine for me was it's ability to play off SD cards as well as disks. I didn't get it for the iPod dock, but because I was so impressed with this machine when I did replace my MP3 player I did get an iPod. It'll hold a 120gb iPod Classic in the dock, no problem at all. I've been so pleased with this machine I just purchased another one for a friend's birthday.

This came very quickly and was very easy to set up. It has the ability to play from the iPod, but I haven't used this feature yet. I have played DVD movies and they are very easy to play. Nice that a remote control comes with it, though I don't need to use it often. The movies play well and the speakers have plenty of sound, easy to hear! The pictures are clear and steady, no flickering or fading. If you leave it on, but not playing, the battery will be dead at the end of the day. (duh! -- I forgot!) It will play while plugged in, but won't charge till you turn it off. I just plug it in at night, and it will run many hours. It's lightweight and fits nicely in the niche on the top of my treadmill, so I can watch movies or programs while working out. I use my earphones for this and the sound through them is great! (I got the Augen earphones from Overstock, and they are the most comfy with the best sound -- no more sore ears from extended use!!). The other thing that is nice about this DVD player is that TWO people can plug in earphones at the same time to watch DVD's and not disturb others!! Overall I was nicely surprised that a refurbished product performs so well. The only thing told me it wasn't new was that there were a few minor scratches on the bottom.

I need this machine because i travel to asia a lot, and get a lot dvd that are not region 1 coded, it works fine with that, except the remote doesn't work when i got my player, i tried not to buy and refurbished electronics, but willing to try one more time, however it again came with something wrong.
