Philips DC320 iPod-docking Dual-alarm Clock Radio (Refurbished)

Granted, this product was advertised as "refurbished." However, I did not realized that their term meant "used and in bad shape." It was obvious that the product had not been refurbished in any way; the receiver/base was in pretty bad shape, and the remote was completely inoperable. I changed the battery and checked online for other possible fixes (no instructions were sent). Any "Refurbished" should be avoided, as it is similar to buying a used car vs. a new car...there's likely to eventually be a problem with a new or used product, but the used product will likely already have problems. Unfortunately, this was my first purchase on this website and was my last as well; I find no value by using this service.

• Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? No, the receiver was in fair condition and the remote is completely inoperabe
• Please tell us about the quality of the product. Poor, since one of the two components does not work.

Product came well packaged for a refurb - all the parts were separate and bubble wrapped so I have to assume that the deep scratch across the face of the display screen was from the first owner. It's disappointing, but you expect some cosmetic dings for the price of a refurb. The photocopied instructions were included which is fortunate since there is nothing intuitive about the setup of this unit. Retgetably, the instructions must be translated from some other language as they were only marginally helpful. Most of the time we stumbled on how to set up date, time, whatever and then went back to the instructions and said, "Oh, that's what they meant!" God help me if the power goes out and I have to do this again! :-) Aside from that petty issue, for those of you who might be more savvy about programming a clock radio -- the sound is terrific and for a bedside sound system. It's more than we thought we'd get for less than $xx. The size is very small for a lot of sound which was important for us.
