I tried a $150 Panasonic, and liked this Philips much more. It is Very Easy to use with a good choice of recording speeds. The 2 Hour speed is actually 2hrs10min. Recording & Playback quality is great. All the blank DVDs I tired work perfectly. The Disk Finalizing is Fast. All recordings I made on this unit are Compatiable with the four differnt DVD players I tried. My only complaint is if you dont record on the entire dvd , then It gives you an empty title on the DVD menu. Example - if you make a recording of Ninety Minutes. The menu will show your 90 minute recording as Title One, Then there will also be a Title Two that says EMPTY TITLE. Other than that, this is a great deal for the price. It says "Refurbished", but my unit looked brand new. This recorder does NOT have a TUNER.So the reviewer who thought it had an RF connection looked at the wrong Philips unit.
This product was well worth it....I have already recommended it to friends and family....used it to transfer home mini disc movies in a snap also have it linked thru my set top box to record the movies I want to keep...
this are good inversion for the value i like . I not use the recorder yet but play the dvds fantastic good definition easy to use nice design you can play any dvd (mpg3 dvd rw any one) the conversion are good the menu is easy to access and show the all funcion you need.
Not the best purchase I have made from Overstock. Instructions were minimal: A DVD instruction guide was included but it doesn't play on any of my machines. The four page-Xerox text that was supplied doesn't give you much direction on how to record from a VHS source or a digital source for that matter. I've resigned to the fact that I'll search the web to find the original owner's manual to discover the features the machine offers. The DVD tray door gets stuck often. I wish the machine had another audio output as well. On the plus side, the picture quality is good.
check to see if this high quality model will work with your rig. i was surprised to find the rf connections shown on the schematic were missing on the unit i bought, so if you are limited to the screw on tv type cords, check out the unit before checkout, and also find out the return policy.
So far good, my only problem is the recording aspect seems too restrictive. You need to buy additonal componets to record from your tv.
HDMI cable was for outbound only. Remote was small and buttons poor quality. I would like to return it.
This refurb could not have been tested (let alone certified) by the manufacturer before reselling. The unit would not read a blank disk, could not even attempt to record. Overstock does not accept returns on refubs, so I had to return to manufacturer. Mfr return process is POOR. Must now wait 6-8 weeks for mfr to send a check to cover my purchase cost. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS PRODUCT.
