I've been a Pentax user for for almost 50 years and I deeply love slr's. But as I age, every little bit of weight I can shed matters. Goodbye prism and mirror. For most folk this is a crossover from a point and shoot to a slr. And since it uses the same lenses as Pentax slrs use, any lens investment now will have lasting value, even if you decide to move up in the camera world to the big, clunky, real thing. OK, Pentax over the years has done an excellent job in reducing camera weight, and yet they build sturdy cameras. The K-01 has most of the bells and whistles found in its big sibling, the K 5, probably more than you'll ever need. It's a great instrument for helping one learn about photography. It is more than snapshots! Even if you use it to take lots of snapshots as well. And if you move up, do so before you hit the age of bifocals whereupon the tiny viewfinder presents new challenges. The 3 inch screen does spoil us older users.
