Overall a nice camera to work with. It has plenty of features to do most everything someone would want to do. Some things I enjoy about it: 1 - multi exposure 2 - green button (set exposure levels and then allow tweaking in manual mode) 3 - usable with all of my manual lenses 4 - fast firing compared to others I have used I am pleased with the pictures I get from the camera. It has been stated on other sites that the images are a little soft which may be true in jpg mode. I tend to shoot exclusively in raw mode and so far the images look great. In one photo of a damsel fly, using the 70 - 200 mm lense, I could see the hairs on the leg of the fly when I zoomed into 100% level. Nothing wrong with that. I am looking forward to getting a macro lense and really get close to my subjects. I really do not have any major complaints with the camera. If anything then it would be the required reading to figure everything out - there is a lot that this camera can do and it isnt always intuitive at first.
I love taking pictures with this camera. It is heavier than most which I like because it helps keep the pictures steady. I took a wonderful picture of a humming bird with his wings wide open the other day and it came out perfectly clear. I am very happy with the quality of the pictures and the speed of the shutter. It was well worth the money.
This camera has great picture quality and is easy to use. "read" the manual and figure out the features as they are not difficult. Then play with the camera and try everything. I have several older lenses and they work fine if they have the correct footing. I have used Pentax cameras for about 30 years and not had a problem with their products. Other cameras with the same pixals are less expensive but this camera is worth the little extra money. I did find it less expensive at another site but chose Overstock as I have ordered many items and not had a problem.
First introduced in 2006, the Pentax K10D still leads all comers in the under $1000 field and most other digital SLR cameras regardless of price. The availability of "like new" lenses and very reasonable prices makes it doubly attractive. Its many features will challenge your memory.
