I purchased this receipt printer to replace an earlier version of the Star Micronics Thermal receipt printer so I was able to substitute this printer without having to make any software changes. A big plus for me! I don't know if it is truly more "energy efficient" than th old one, but it certainly uses less paper! It took some time to get used to the slight thudding sound when it cuts the paper, no big deal. I would recommend this printer.
Bought this for work to use for various states tax returns and forms. I use it on a daily basis and it works great! Would recommend for student or small business,
