Nikon Coolpix S9
from Omaha, NE,  Oct 5, 2007

At first this camera was great! It's compact and takes great picures. Then the battery would run down really fast, and not even last one night. After going through a few batteries, and some third party batteries, the camera will freeze and the picture on the screen will either be black or "pixely" and jagged. I'm getting a different brand of camer after only 8 months of having this one

If new great camera rebuilt don't buy
from Melbourne, Fl,  Oct 23, 2007

I bought this camera to take on vacation, and it is not living up to my expectations as of yet. I will say when I can get it to take pictures it takes great ones. Just don't try to take them one right after another. This camera also has a mind of it's own, and will take pictures when it feels like it, even if you don't hit the flash button. I will send it back for a new one when I get back from my vacation. This thing really stinks. Sorry but true. I love Nikon products but this repaired product wasen't repaired and checked properly.

Okay Camera
from Boston, MA,  Nov 5, 2007

When I first got this camera it was great. I took pictures right away, and brought it to the Christmas party that day. However, the battery ran out two hours into the party and I got no pictures. The picture quality was really good at first, but after a month or so the picture's got really grainy, and I had to hold down the button for several minutes before it would take the picture. Also, the camera frequently freezes, and I have to remove the battery and try to fix it. It occasionaly shuts off with the lens cap off and it won't turn back on until I fix it myself... Now the part of the camera that keeps the battery in is falling off. I've almost had it for a year now.... Also, the video quality is poor and there is no sound about the last three seconds of my videos... The only good thing about the camera is that it's easy to figure out how to use. That's really it though.

Nikon Coolpix S9
Anonymous  from Hill Country of Texas,  Nov 10, 2007

It may be that I have not studied the Guide to Digital Photo enough, but I am having difficulty in several areas. The camera often does not stay on long enough for me to get set and focused. It bright light, it does beautifully. Inside, I expected the flash to kick in and give me an even clear picture. It doesn't. Or hasn't. Maybe the operator - me. I had a kodak before, and the ease of operation was on my level, but I have problems reviewing my pictures, and I haven't aced the delete operation yet, either. The camera is very smart looking, light weight, and I just hope I can overcome my difficulties to photo a trail ride we are attending soon.

Worthwhile Purchase
from FLorida West Coast,  Jan 4, 2008

Even though I missed this product as a refurb, I will say that it has worked as expected. Decent pictures for an automatic. We currently used Nikon and Cannon SLR Digitals for our seriouswork. This camera fills that small void we needed for a quick quality shot. It is pretty much aim and shoot with easy to use downloading operations with newer Windows systems such as Windows XP. Provided software allows the camera to innerface with all operating systems.

Ooops
from Chicago (Wilmette), IL,  Dec 21, 2007

I thought I would luck out on this purchase but, so far, not the case. Camera looks GREAT but doesn't give me photos anywhere close to my other CoolPix - which I gave my daughter. Battery does not hold a charge and the pictures i get for the most part are blurry and unprintable. Want to return it but am thinking I am past deadline. May call to find out. Not a good experience.

Nikon Coolpix S9 Digital Camera
 from Wash. D.C.,  Dec 17, 2007

I purchased this camera about 2 yrs ago and was happy with it. Unfortunately, it got wet & no longer works. I bought another on Overstock and it works fine and takes good pictures. The only problem I am having is the camera will turn on by itself and run down the battery.

Good camera, bad refurbishing
from Los Angeles, CA,  Nov 29, 2007

This is a great, tiny little looking camera with a ton of features but for this one purchased individually, we had to send it back to Nikon after the first two days of use as there was a probably with the shutter as it would not open the second time we tried to turn it on. Nikon quickly repaired and replaced the parts necessary under their 90 day warranty and now it works fantastically! Be very, VERY cautious buying a refurbished camera. Otherwise, it is a great camera. I've heard other users complain about this same problem.

Great Bang for the Buck

This is such a great camera that we bought one for each of our kids! It's also small enough to fit in your purse without weighing you down.
