These comments are tempered by this being the first experience with a digital SLR camera. My previous camera work has been with a "mechanical" SLR, with a full complement of lenses. It has been an experience to have all the attachments as part of the camera. Nikon did a good job in incorporating most of the most commonly used "accessories" into a package that is about 1/2 the size of my other camera. Now, all I have to do is assimilate 170+ pages of instructions from the handbook. They could have done a better job on preparing the book by grouping like items together Another suggestion is to have a person unfamiliar with the equipment read and edit the book.
This was a great camera back in 2003! I bought mine to replace an old Kodak digital.would i buy it now at this price? not a chance- it's outmoded and obsolete.
This replaced my 20 year old Nikon 35mm SLR. Other than the Nikon Coolpix 5700 came with a 16mb memory card which is completely inadequate and was replaced with a 2gb card, it's a fantastic little camera. It's so easy to operate that my wife ended up taking the majority of the pictures on our recent vacation. The battery holds a charge well, and the optics are of typical Nikon quality. I'd recomment this camera both for experienced and newer users.
