Nikon Coolpix S-230
This model uses a rechargable Li ion battery. I much prefer this type to AA's. They are more expensive, but smaller & easier to carry [extras]. The big problem with ALL the Coolpix cameras is that none of them have the ability to attach a polarizing (or any) filter. This means that some pictures will be washed out or underexposed when facing into bright light. The fact that it only uses the JPG format is ok, but it would be nice for those of us a bit more advanced if the RAW format were also available. - It is not. The advantage to this camera is that it can easily slip into a pocket. I often carry it with me, even when I am carrying a full-sized D-SLR and all the lenses. When temperature extremes are not an issue, I often keep one in my car. It's good to have on hand for that unexpected shot.
