This is the coolest gadget. It is the first GPS I have owned, but it is so easy to use and very accurate. I would recommend to anyone that is directionally challenged, like me!
This product is the clearest - and has the most useful features without going overboard. I have had 4 GPS devices - this is my choice over all of them. Garmin is second.
I did about 8 months of research, and knew I wanted the Navigon 5100. I got it from my wife for Christmas. The two major knocks I read about this unit was that it was hard to hear it and the satellite reading was slow. I can tell you one thing, I have no issues with either one of those. I have had a few things that I've had to get adjusted to this one with, but nothing major. My wife doesn't like that you can't change the voice (or maybe we just haven't figured out how to yet). The one thing I noticed is that some fenced off private roads are on the map, and looking at the map on the screen you think that they can be used (but the route doesn't take you that way). All in all, it is a great product and definitely a great buy.
This product is okay if you have super human hearing. The audio is too low even at max level. When you are setting your destination the unit seems not to recieve the info you are putting in right away, you have to keep going back and doing it again which can be annoying. This is my first GPS and I don't think I will Buy another. I just as well as use map quest for directions. The unit is in my closet. Also there is no wall charger.you have to plug it into your computer would prefer a wall charger. Not what I thought is would be.Would have returned it but I didn' feel like being bothered.
This is a fantastic, well needed product. I would be lost without it. I love the traffic for life feature and as i drive about 1000 miles per week in Los Angeles each week, this product helps me more than the old Garmin GPS I own. I wish I had bought the bigger screened unit....but for the money I paid i am happy.
The Navigon was of great help to me on a trip to an area I had never been to befor. Every little turn on a mountain road was shown, letting me know what was around the next turn, so I wasn't supprised by sudden turns.
Everything you need to go from one point to other. You do not need anything else to get around.
The navigon is hard to hear but I like that it has lifetime realtime traffic updates. Simple to use. Just play with it a little before you use it. Hopefully they will update the maps every few years to keep up with the growth of communities. Very great navigator. You can see the roads coming up before you arrive at them so you can make your turns. Thumbs up for this item.
The features are good but the only drawback I see is the Audio quality. The volume is very less no matter how much you increase. I also see that that the voice could not be changed to male/female, may be I did not find the option this change this feature. On the whole, it is a good buy.
The Navigon 5100 is a fantastic product. It doesn't have the bells and whistles such as bluetooth, but it does what it is designed to do and it does it very well. Right out of the box (without using the antenna) it connected with the gps satellites in less than a minute. It is very easy to use and is easy to install in a car if you want to use it there. The navigation directions are extremely accurate. Three really outstanding benefits of the Navigon 5100 are the specific interstate highway lane directions, the traffic notifications and speech to text capabilities. When you approach major intersections on an interstate highway it tells you which lanes to be in and also shows this on the screen. The traffic notifications feature (subscription) comes free with the Navigon 5100 and it really works. Twice, so far, it has shown me major traffic jams and correctly rerouted me around them. The speech to text capabilities is also a nice feature. Instead of just being told when to turn and what direction, the unit actually uses the road or street designation. The only negative about the unit (and this is a very small negative) is that the volume is not as loud as I would like it to be. That may just be my hard-of-hearing problem and not the unit's fault, but I would like for it to be louder. If you are looking for a navigation unit that is attractive, reliable, gives you free traffic subscription for life, is attractively priced, and gets you where you want to go then this is the product for you.
The product is great! Quality and functionality. I couldn't ask for anything more. The price is very reasonable compared to other GPS on the market today.
Thanks to Navigon 5100 my trip to an out of town party was made simple and alot less stressfull. I didn't have to constantly look at the written map, Navigon's clear voice was clearly understood, and easy to read. The instruction were precise.
Extremely pleased, I have had for only a week, but it is so easy to use. With the traffic alerts built in (for Life) you cannot beat the price. Once you get it you are ready to go. Screen display was clear even in bright sunlight, the voice was clear (mispronounced one of my local streets) but directions were right on. Read reviews from other sites before making my decision, I feel I made the best choice. I can always count on Overstock when I've finally decided on a product, quick ship and have never let me down.
