This is PERFECT for the TomTom model it is designed for. I bought two of these. One for my TomTom One and one for my TomTom One XL-S. These fit PERFECTLY. The back plate adapter is a perfect fit for the model of your TomTom (make sure you buy the right model of the dash mount for your TomTom). You get four pieces in the box: 1. You get the base which has the sturdy, heavy weighted base with a permanently attached neck. 2. You get a back plate that attaches your TomTom to the base's neck connector plate - the back plate is designed to fit your exact model of TomTom. 3. You get a screw-on swivel connector that connects the back plate to the neck of the base. 4. You get a little package of cleaner wipes to clean your dash area of dust before setting your new GPS mount on your dashboard. The neck of the dash mount is permanently attached to the base so you cannot take it off - that also means that it will not be popping off like those dang suction cup ones do! Take the dash mount out of the box. Attach the back plate to the neck of the base unit. Slide your TomTom onto the back plate. Voila! You are all set!You can swivel your TomTom around from left to right and up and down to some degree.Once you have the back plate snapped onto the neck of the dash mount and have the back plate attached to the TomTom and, everything is going to stay in place. The weight of the base mount is quite heavy in spite of its small size. It hasn't moved from where I placed it on my dash. That's pretty incredible to me. Also, since it is smaller than many of those big ones I've seen, it fits pretty well in several places on my dash as well as on my center console of my Titan truck. It is certainly more versatile than the bigger ones, space-wise.When you want to take your TomTom off of the dash mount, your TomTom is easily removed from the back plate. The back plate can also be removed from the neck of the base unit, but it is snapped on a bit tighter. If you want to stash the whole thing, you can easily grab the entire thing under its neck and lift the whole thing, TomTom and all, and set it on the floorboard of your car, out of sight. Then, when you get back in, just reach for it on the floorboard, grab it under the neck, keeping the TomTom in the back plate, and lift it up to your dashboard by the neck of the dash mount, and you are good-to-go. The reason I mention lifting it by the neck of the mount is because the dash mount cannot be picked up or moved around by the TomTom. If you try to pick up the the dash mount by grabbing a hold of the TomTom, the TomTom will slide off of the back plate into your hand and the dash mount will just be sitting there. I do wish the TomTom fit a bit snugger into the back plate, but I am not complaining.I also wish you could buy extra back plates for other models of TomToms. Since we have more than one TomTom and more than one dash mount, it would be nice to be able to use either TomTom in either car whenever we wanted without having any to switch dash mounts from one car to another.I highly recommend this dash mount for TomTom owners. It works perfectly. It stays put. It is designed for your TomTom. It is small, but works as well as the bigger ones. I looked long and hard for a good dash mount before deciding to buy this one, and I could not be happier with my purchase. Plus, Overstock.com delivered it right away! Thanks Overstock.com!
