Just a cable
The DVI to Component cable does exactly what it should do. Just don't expect it to hook up your Macintosh to an Analog TV. This cable won't work. It is possible to make it work, but that solution requires totally different parts.

Sadly, It doesn't work
I was hoping this would work for me to connect my new Apple 2011 laptop to our TV which has RCA jacks, (we don't have an HD TV) but sadly, neither cables worked. I have tried to search to find something similar that would work, but it appears that while such cables "exist," they don't work. (I don't understand the rational for making and selling products that don't work). If anyone finds anything that does work, I hope you'll let me know. thanks.

Didn't work w/ my MBP
I have a Macbook Pro from spring 2010, and according to the description of this product the cables should work. I was trying to connect my MBP to a new LCD TV I recently purchased, so it wasn't as if I was working w/ an old TV. After everything was connected, my MBP didn't even recognize any external display. I'd connected an HDMI cable before via the Mini DisplayPort, so I know the port on my end works. All I could assume was that the cables were DOA.

Probably works
I'm sure the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter/6-foot DVI to Component Cable works fine with "modern" technology. My computer (Mac Mini) certainly KNEW that it was theoretically attached to a television. Unfortunately, my 10 year old television was unable to display any kind of signal. Yay.
