I purchased this HD-5000 LifeCam to replace my LifeCam 3000. The 3000 worked well until I bought my new HP computer W/ Windows 7 64 bit installed. I followed all recommended instructions to get the 3000 working again, with no sucess. Mounting frustration forced me to purchase a new life cam recomended to work W/ Windows 7. The new cam is so far superior in picture quality and so far it is operating W/ no problems. There was such a small differance in price to up grade to HD that it was wise to do it. I am very pleased with the new Cam and it saved the day as far as Microsoft products go for me.

way to go Microsoft , you did it again another top of the line product just plug - N - go great sound and picture never seen any thing like it would recommend it for sure .

I love this webcam. It looks cheap and is lightweight, but it provides excellent clarity.

Overall, the webcam is good if you absolutely need a webcam but its certainly not something I would recommend to anyone. For the price, you can get something better. The reviews mention the autofocus as a pain, and it is. When I turn it off, it randomly comes of again and turns off true color (which I think is the best thing about the camera). In order to get a good picture, you have to adjust the resolution which slows down the image and sound dramatically. I LOVE the true color option since all webcams seem to have terrible color quality and white balance, so this is the only thing that made me keep the webcam (other than me being too lazy to go through the return process and conduct another search) My suggestion, dont buy it. You can do better with another webcam. it might be more pricey, but I think if your really looking for something thats hassle-free, its worth the extra money

this is a good clean camera that performs well, comes with a disc that has software addons that allow you to manipulate your picture. You can add a hat, wig, or bunny nose and ears. Sometimes the auto focus tends to reset often if there is alot of movement, but the picture is clear.

I am very happy with my new Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000. It has exceeded my expectations and the picture quality is fantastic. My brother, as well as a neighbor, both were so impressed that they bought the exact same camera from Overstock.com. This is certainly a high quality device and I would recommend it highly.

I purchased this videocam to replace a Logitech VideoCam 4000 that I could not get to work once I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 32-bit to the 64-bit version. This camera provides outstanding video quality, good sound quality, excellent auto-focusing and adjusting for background light - and far exceeds what I had in the Logitech cam. The camera sits atop my LCD screen well, but it does not clamp on, so those who are using laptops and like to move around while having the laptop on their lap will find that the camera can fall off or shift. This camera is more ideal for desktop systems where the screen is stationary. The bendable bottom half of the camera base isused to adjust the vertical angle of the camera. I like it, but I have seen others complain about it.
