I recently purchased a new TV so needed another adapter to connect my Samsung Galaxy 2 to the hdmi. Ordered this product and it does not work!!!! Waste of money. Do not buy this product!

this works just fine outputting from samsung galaxy nexus to hdmi. you must plug in the power cord to the convertor for it to work.

I was looking for a device to connect my HTC smartphone to my television. I'd looked at the HTC adapter but was a little put off by the price. I finally looked online and was happy to find the same device at 1/3 of the original price. I was wary, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked perfectly. I found that the phone does have to be connected to a USB power source in order to operate, but this hasn't posed a problem.

The male micro-usb/MHL connector has weak springs so it slips out somewhat easily, it can be mitigated by not moving the phone much while using the adapter or by using a dock. The female micro-usb/MHL connection is recessed a little more than it should be so only certain cables seat fully. Make sure you have a couple of different cables to try. The concept of MHL is extremely novel, but it does not work well in the real world because it only sends 500ma to the device. Basically it means that your phone dies as it's playing on the big screen. Hopefully it is something that can be corrected with firmware very soon. It should support up to the tablet standard 2.1amps! Essentially, you get what you pay for with the inexpensive adapter. Materials wise, it's quite impressive, and the hdmi port is tight, but the Mhl plugs need a revision.

Did exactly what I wanted it to do; outputs phone/tablet audio and video through either MHL HDMI direct, or with use of an HDMI cable and a charger.
