I just bought this on another website for even less than the price here, when I first started it up, it froze a few times with regular dvd's. Then I popped in a Blu-Ray and it worked awesome. I watched Indiana Jones on BR and was amazed at the sound this thing pumped out. It upconverts all DVD's, even the copied DVD-R, but playing DVD+R, its not that great. For the regualr price of 247.99 everywhere else, its not that bad, the major things I have is it is very very slow to load, and it does not resume at all, you stop the dvd or BD, it starts all over again. And when you power it on, it has to load and then it will allow for changes and ejections. Other than that, I find the machine entertaining. I would recommend this unit for the bed room or a small room, and stick with the big machines for the HUGE HDTV's.
I bought this Blu-ray player on the cheap. It plays most blu-ray disks ok, but it is very difficult to upload new software for some of the newer DVD's. There are much more reliable, smaller and easier to operate players out there. Also much cheaper. This is not for the serious viewer.

I gave this BluRay five stars because it is great quality and price. I have had this product for over a year now and it is great. It did take a few minutes to load a BluRay originally as opposed to the DVDs which loaded in a few seconds. However, I did update this player's firmware by going to the Memorex website. That's because I had a James Bond movie that would not play until it was updated which was a pretty simple process for me to do. You have to download the update to a CD and then play the CD in the BluRay player, turn it off then back on and it was good to go! (detailed instructions are in the manual). Now it has faster loading times and pleased to know anytime I needed to keep up to date it is possible to do so without getting a new machine. I just wanted to be able to watch my BluRay movies and therefore love this player because of picture and price. I would recommend it If you don't mind the update process.
this is the worst peice of electronic equipment i have ever used. do not buy this DVD player. it doesn't work at all, and when it does it takes an hour to load. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS!
The blu-ray player is a good value but it is frustrating sometimes trying to switch out one movie for another. It takes so long for the machine to open so that you can retrieve your disk. It's a little ridiculous! .................... BUT plays very well and a great value for a blu-ray player!
Product was as described.Very pleased.I would recommended this product to anyone interested in a good product at a reasonable price.
Works great, good value player. Bought from Overstock.com, easy transaction, fast delivery. For a basic Blu-ray player, at a low price, well worth it.
This product even made regular DVDs look great. I haven't tried a Blue Ray disc yet because they are so expensive, and I didn't want to waste my money on a DVD player that could become extinct. I am glad that this product can play both media types. Don't forget the HDMI cable, it makes the setup easier.
Only thing it is alittle noise. Beside that its GREAT
This Blu Ray player will likely meet your needs if only looking for a BluRay/DVD compatible unit with HDMI output. The system is slow to start up and has very little features. The unit arrived well packaged and looks nice in our entertainment center. A fair bargain.
I received the above product as a Christmas Gift from my parents. I was totally impressed. As I don't have a compatible TV I do have a computer monitor that I was able to use with the proper cables. Outstanding picture and performance. It works great! I love it! Thanks guys!!
Blue ray discs are very slow to load, you need updates for some movies, and will not play all regular (non Blue Ray) movies.
Outside of the genius of key button placement, the unit works very well with its multi platform feature, i.e BD, DVD+/_ , etc.
I bought this product for my boss who has everything and is up to date on the latest of electronic gadgets, but for some reason hadn't bought a bluray yet. He said it installed real easy and the picture quality is great. He was also impressed on how it upverted a DVD from 1080i to 1080p(?). I don't quite know what that means, but he was impressed! I'd recommend this bluray player to everyone.
This DVD player is great for the money. I purchased it for my husband for Christmas and he seems to really like it. The only down side is it take awhile to load, nothing I would return the player over but it is a little slow.
The Memorex MVBD2510 Blu-Ray DVD player is a very good player, although it is near the lower end in price. It lacks the features of the middle and high end players, such as an ethernet connector, but it is a good "starter" Blu-Ray DVD player. I was impressed with the video, and my HDTV is just a 1080i. I would recommend this as a "very good buy".
Very pleased with item. Quality is very good for the money.
easy to order, great price, arrived quickly before Christmas. Hook up was easy and unit works great so far.
I bought this as a gift for my mom and it has been nothing but trouble. It freezes and within the fist day of opening it, it called for a product update, which only seemed to cause more problems. I am in the process of returning it and have to replace her gift.
Pros: Cant beat the price! Even does 1080p 24HZ output if you tv supports it. Its a nice looking player and sharp remote. Video output of bluray looks fantastic and plays anything you throw at it. You can burn to a DVD+R your mp3s, jpgs, HD WMV, MP4, DIVX etc and plays them all perfectly. Easy to setup and works right out of the box.Cons: Takes a long time to boot up. You can't even eject the disk without first powering it on and waiting for bootup. The setup menu is pretty sad looking and very very slow. I downloaded latest 12/24 firmware hoping it would help, but no change in the menu slowness. Does not support BD live.I would highly recommend this if you don't mind waithng about 40 seconds for it to power on. You can always leave it on all the time ;-) The video quality looks fantastic over HDMI and upconversion of old DVD's looks great too. Near HD quality for sure and worth dusting off some old DVD's for. Cant complain about the price, features and compatility. Looks like memorex is releasing firmware updates frequently so hopefully they can improve on some of the Cons.
