Had an extra laptop hard drive kicking around and needed an external hard drive to free up some space on my computer. For the price it certainly did the trick. It was really easy to put together and even included the little screwdriver necessary for installation. The down side is in features, I suppose. This is the simplest of cases imaginable. You just plug the hard drive in and then screw the case into place around it, which does make it so the hard drive could bang around if you weren't careful with it. Since I don't intend to move the thing a lot, I think it'll be fine, but be aware of that.

Bought this product and am very pleased! Had a laptop destroyed in a car accident BUT the internal HD survived. Installing the HD into the casing was easy (they even give you a small screwdriver). Plugged it in the new laptop, WinXP recognized the new drive and it works like a champ! I now have a USB 2.0 connected spare 60GB drive. Would recommend this product if you have USB 2.0 port open and a spare hard drive lying about as a very cost effective way to backup important data/pictures/music.

Wasn't sure what to expect, figured for the price even if it didn't work I wouldn't be out much. Ended up being a great little case. Drive works great, it loaded fine and has been reliable. I use it all the time, I even used it as a boot drive for making my Hackintosh.

I bought this to retrieve and reuse the hard drive from my laptop. Found it easy to install and set up and now i have a working external hard drive all thanks to this wonderful HDD enclosure.

The enclosure is a light construction aluminum and meets the very basic requirements for maintaining a "pocket-sized" potable hard drive. This HDD enclosure is an acceptable alternative to a typical jump-drive, whose memory capacity exceeds current capabilities. I don't feel that the enclosure would provide adequate protection if put to the test, and lacks overall durability; however, it gets the job done!

happened to be exactly what I was looking for - simple, power and data integrated into one USB cable, no driver CD needed, handy slip cover and a screwdriver - installation was a breeze. could have been designed a little prettier.

This item worked perfectly. I was able to pull the harddrive out of an old laptop and use its as a giant portable memory stick on my other computers. Make sure your harddrive and this device are the right match. It would be nice to have an on/off button for this device.

I replaced my old 40GB hard drive with a new fast 120GB. I put my 40BG in this inexpensive enclosure and expected to use it as a travel drive. I plugged it in and realized that I had an exact mirror of my old drive and decided to save it for emergencies. It was almost scary realizing that my hard drive lived again in another body.

The device worked fine, but install/configuration was alittle unfriendly. Depending on your hard drive you may need to remover your Master/Slave jumper. Also, found cheaper compatible cases onlne.
