Admittedly, not all refurb computers/laptops are bad. But I purchased the two year warranty, and I only got a few uses out of it before it began constantly restarting itself. This can be caused by several things (incl. a virus, which isn't the manufacturer's fault...or problem). But there's a practice now, which is patently unethical, for companies not to furnish backup CDs for the specific Windows XP provided with the product. I tried everything, including the obvious, return to factory settings, etc. I didn't hear the heater fan go on, during one of my many phonecalls to the company, and so after many phonecalls and headaches, they finally agreed to let me send it to their techies, Micromedics, to try repairing. They, twice, couldn't find a problem and sent it back. I was told by a friend that it's possible to purchase some generic XP disks, for perhaps $100. or so. So then, the total cost of this so-far unusable machine is up to about $500.I'm only at intermediate level, and self taught, in trying options myself without hiring a professional. I'm still working on the problem, and I might succeed, in which case, I'd want to soften this complaint. Also, there's one techie I spoke to twice who was amazing! She educated me and was really for the consumer. My 5 stars go to her.
