Couldn't even get past the start up screen when setting up. Returned immediately. Beware of overstock's refurbished laptops in general. I went through 3!

I am disappointed in this laptop. First, it arrived and the new laminate cover that was put on has bubbles underneath that I can't get out. Next, I've had it one day and I already had to take it to a repair shop to address some setting/code issue that was preventing the battery from charging. To top it off, I didn't purchase the warranty when I ordered this laptop and SquareTrade won't warranty reconditioned laptops purchased on Overstock. When I tried to purchase a warranty through Overstock, they won't sell it now despite my having had it in my possession less than 24 hours. I've got fingers crossed the battery issue is resolved and I won't experience any further problems. Lesson learned. Expect issues w/ reconditioned products and get the warranty at the time of purchase. Or if you have the money, spend more upfront to buy new. You get what you pay for - or don't in this case.

  • WARNING! READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BFORE TURNING IT ON

Having purchased a laptop from Overstock I assumed all I had do was turn it on, BUT I ignored the paper stuck over the keyboard giving special insrtuctions on booting up for the first time. Why they couldn't have performed these steps before they shipped it out I can only assume was to save fifty cents or so. the are going to send me a disk that will hopefully fix it. Another week without a computer. I think I may try ebay next time.

I received my HP Probook 6440b 2.4ghz 4gb 160gb win 7 14" laptop within a quick time period, and for that I am grateful. Upon starting the latop, I had issues with the Windows 7 and it saying I may be a victim of Software piracy, not what I was expecting at all. Now it prompts me every time I start it to verify my software, even tho this laptop supposedly is Windows 7 ready. The next disappointment was the audio jack for headphones not working,. I am an avid music listener and often play music working on my reports and using my laptop and or computer. No sound at all comes from the jack, and the laptop doesn't even register there is a jack plugged in. Shortly after that, my laptop started dying incredibly fast, and would always have to be on the charger. It says I may need a new battery, which I thought was strange since this is a new laptop. It says I have an illegal shut down every time I turn it off and on and the battery sometimes charges. Sometimes. These things are not what peop...
