I love Dell products, and have used the Precision desktops in the past. I was a little concerned about the quality because it was a refurbished laptop, but I am extremely happy with it, and the price is amazing! The price of this laptop new can be up to over $2000! I work in IT, and this is one of the nicest Dell laptops I have ever used.

My first HP, but having bought several refurb'd desktops from Overstock with great success, decided to give this a try. Its primary use is for the managing a website and reunion information, highly portable, adequate screen size (I like huge widescreens, but this works fine), decent performance, great DVD/RW, excellent features. Machine arrived ready to configure, no issues whatsoever, a nice setup. Machine itself arrived in immaculate condition, clean and shiny, no observable usage. For the money, this has been a great value... - the Core Duo is a decent chip, older, successful, no noticeable performance issues, fast clock speed. - 4GB memory never runs out of working space - 160GB HDD is more than adequate for my use, supports USB external drive(s) (I connect a 1TB samsung and a 2nd DVD/rw) - USBs are 2.0 but 4 ports is above average, nice to have extras for gadgets or recharging. - Display is very nice, clear - lots of "goodies" on the faceplate, such as touch controls for WiFi, Sound volume/mute, etc. - Win 7 Pro a definite plus. Cons: none! Pros: a great value for the cost! fyi: does NOT include a separate recovery disk; instead it has a boot option that restores Win7Pro to default factory state. Brilliant. ps: I prefer Linux to MicroSoft, and installed Linux Mint alongside Windows 7. Mint found all of the hardware and happily runs this HP without complaint. pss: previous experience with Toshiba laptops, happy with them all, this HP is equally pleasing. Am considering another.

It was a HUGE mistake to purchae this. I thouht this would be totally refurbished - and cleaned up/checked out. However started it up and blue screened immediately. (It was supposed to boot up with Windows 7 on it.) Thank goodness I tried this before Christmas because it was "main" gift for daughter. Had to run to *** and buy new laptop day before holiday so Xmas wasn't ruined for my daughter. This laptop was dirty, had crumbs in keyboard, didn't work - was AWEFUL. Clearly had not been refurbished.

For the price you can't beat this. Laptop is fast, clean, and has a solid feel. The battery is not new...but that is not a big deal for me.

I ordered my computer from Overstock two weeks ago and I received it this week. I cannot say enough about my refurbished Laptop, It is perfect. My old computer was very slow, it took forever to do anything, my refurbished Dell Latitute is very quick. The keyboard is great, love the feel. There are no defects that I can see, it looks brand new. I had no probem getting the computer started myself and I am not a techie. I would recommend this product very hightly, as a matter of fact I already did recommend it. Thank you so much, Overstock .com.

This is a real headache and time waster for me. If this laptop was as stated it would be great. If you buy this you are taking a gamble. However my laptop was damaged on arrival and more than mere cosmetics. Here are some but not all of the issues: It appeared the technician ate lunch or a snack and failed to clean it off. There was what looked like chocolate on the left speaker and crumbs in the keyboard. Clearly some type of quality issue. Not sure if they are not given lunches or what. The logo was partially chipped off. Okay so maybe that is trivial I proceeded because it is a big let down but not something that is too bad. The screen resolution on this one was foggy and way below standard. The laptop crashed within one hour and had to be rebooted. I I called to try to get support and could not get a person sent e-mails and phone calls. Had purchased warranty and went with warranty tech support since I could not get the help from the vendor. Had done some type of static removal thing and it worked! Yes, for seven hours or so! I was so happy except the foggy screen. I loaded in my norton anti virus started doing my school work added in my word 2010 professional, added adobe etc. The computer took a while to update when shut it off that night. When went to start it next morning took over 15 minutes to boot up updating etc. Finally on and about an hour into it the whole thing went black again! Okay so this is three times. I got an e-mail response a few days later from the vendor saying they can't help me unless I furnish and invoice but they never sent one! ( not one of my voicemails were responded to) I emailed back for clarification have not heard back it is a full day later and the weekend is here. I called Dell at a previous call with overstock telling me to call them and they said there was an issue that needed to be cleared on my service tag. Also pop ups from windows came with error messages about a video and I wrote the numbers down in case tech support calls back. I Called overstock who promised if one in stock to replace and ship back at their expense. If I ship this other one back I am holding my breath as it worked another four hours and crashed again. I sent the invoice to the vendor and am not satisfied yet. Also they say they shipped when all the do is print a label do not expect delivery immediately etc. Another problem is the shipping packing materials-very flimsy and easily damaged in transit. HP packs their tech support items better. It may have been damaged in shipping the way these carriers throw things around it is hard to say but all that was protecting this from damage was a clear rubber seal around a piece of cardboard in cardboard. Hardly shock resistant. Maybe it was damaged in shipping. I do not know-of course the food in it and the chipped of logo etc that is clearly the vendors issue. I guess it boils down to you get what you pay for. This is an economic used product that is refurbished. They are not giving the best customer service and their quality control is limited. It is a gamble but if you are on a low budget with your back against the wall please think twice before taking a risk on a headache that could cost you countless hours of time trying to resolve. So Dell is an excellent product new but refurbished it is only as good as the product support that you get.

Never ever buy an Asus. They have the worst computers and their customer service is terrible. I bought one and the mother board was "fried" after 2 weeks of use. They fixed it but charged me to get all my info and everything downloaded again from my external hard drive. I had it home for another 2 weeks and the screen got black marks across it. They said I dropped it which did not happen. They said it would cost *** dollars to fix it. I still don't have the computer back as it will be cheaper and less aggravating buying a new computer. Buyer please be aware of this company.

This laptop is state of the art circa 2006. I thought I had found a nice work laptop but this totally missed the bill. The laptop comes with a code to activate window but the code was invalid and part of the mouse was missing. I began using the laptop since overstock agreed to send me a new code and the missing part but i immediately noticed how slow it was. Within a 48 hours it had shutdown several times because the processor couldn't handle me visiting websites that require a decent amount of PC power. I returned the laptop and with a bit of research i located a PC with a modern processor for roughly the same price. Given teh age of the PC and the spec this laptop should really be priced about $@#$ lower.

It runs hot - very hot! Battery life is very short so I ordered a new battery- no better! When the battery is low the computer cuts off suddenly with no warning. It will seem that you still have 1/3 battery left per the icon, then seconds latter the computer suddenly turns off! So in effect it means you must keep it plugged up all the time because its hard to judge how much battery time you really have left.

The computer came to me in an aftermarket style, just a box. Cosmetically the computer was in good shape with a few minor scratches that are not noticeable unless looked at closely. Internally the computer work like it was new. For the price. It was worth it.

I was very surprised w/the packaging. No padding inside and one small piece of tape to close it. When i received it, the box was partially open due to the lack of packaging tape. To my surprise the laptop worked, however, the internal battery does not. Either it doesnt work or they took it out. So anytime you use the laptop, you have to have it plugged in. This means there are a lot of places in public I cannot use it, which defeats the purpose of having a portable laptop. Sending back

I need this laptop for a DJ but it came in good condition for an old laptop. I didn't come with microsoft office, good condition with the new window 7. The instruction said I was supposed to enter the key product, but the laptop didn't even allow me to do so. I guess the company already set it up prior to mailing it. Everything seems to be working so far

A new laptop with these specs would cost more than double this price. It's like new, except a few dead pixels on the screen. SSD makes it very quiet, little heat output, and the battery lasts much longer.

This is the third time I bought a factory refurbished computer over the years from Overstock. Each time the price was great, each lasted 3 years - and hey, the technology changes by then so you need a new computer. I have recommended this purchase many times to other people. As people turn to tablets, and I have one of those as well, I still think that many of us still need our laptops or desktops and I will continue buying the factory refurbished from Overstock.

My overall review is that there needs to be more close attention payed to the functionality of the products before being sold to the consumer, considering the fact that they are refurbished and not brand new

Wanted to upgrade to Micro Soft Windows 8 and had to get a new computer to do so. Very pleased with the condition of the machine (refurbished). Our old PC and old lap top are Dell and still going strong so there was no question of changing brands for our needs. Price on the laptop was excellent thanks to Overstock.

Great price for a starter computer for kids. I have a 11 year and 7 year that are constantly fighting on our 1 laptop, which broke...accidentely. Overstock had great value/refurbished Dell laptop which serves it's purpose. Now they both are able to do their work on their own laptop. But I must say the battery life and the charger are absolute horror.
When you browse the large selection of laptops here on Overstock.com, you may see this icon that labels them as "refurbished." A refurbished laptop is either a computer that has been returned to the retailer or manufacturer for a refund by a customer or a computer that has just come off a lease. The computer may have had a slight defect or simply not met a customer's expectations. Before a laptop can be resold, any defective components are repaired or replaced and the computer is then carefully examined to ensure it works properly. Any computer that goes through this process must be identified as refurbished or reconditioned. Refurbished laptops can be a bargain compared to some new models, but it's important to make a few comparisons first to make sure you're getting a good deal.
