My husband's last laptop is about 7 years old and it gave up the ghost. This one is so fast and he loves it! Case was pretty scratched up but was a lovely blue color. The first one shipped had a damaged pixelation on the screen and was a bigger screen, this one is much smaller on the screen but seems to be working fine with no damage.

Laptop has good build quality, screen id ok, keyboard is good....but the slow processor is a killer. I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB (it ships with 4) and it still struggles under light loads.

This computer took more time to "bootup" than a centipede in the army... It has to be the slowest Processor known to the PC world. When I went online and clicked on a Website it took over 45 seconds for the page to even begin to respond and another 2 to 5 minutes to load the page! I had two other computers in the room and they loaded fine and fast. So it wasn't the connection it was this laptop. It is awful; do not waste your money on this product. A one star rating is too high for this product... but there was no option of minus stars.

I ordered this knowing I wasn't getting anything high end, I just wanted a second laptop to have around for surfing the web and checking email. This is good for that but was not without problems. First, this was originally a VISTA operating system that had WINDOWS 7 installed. There were a few glitches because of that and a few settings had to be changed. I also had to change one BIOS setting to prevent the machine from ever hybernating and/or moving to the secondary battery source (as a busness machine it comes with this option but I only use one battery). Also, the power cord was faulty and I only discovered this when the battery refused to charge, I used the cord from an old HP laptop I has laying around and everything worked fine. So boo for that waste of money. From the same old HP laptop I had laying around I pulled out some RAM and installed it in this one (it comes with 2 gigs but that isn't really enough for WIN 7) so things work pretty well now. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they knew a bit about computers and felt comfortable messing around with it. For me it was a project,I liked the basic form and was ok with cannabalizing my brokend down machines to get this one up to par. It's my daily mess-around laptop now and I won't be installing too much beyond what I need to use google, fb, email, etc.

I bought ASUS 550c i5 series , within 3 months it has gone for Service THRICE so far.. I'm tired and sick of chasing and following the tickets. And I gave my laptop to the Dealer to prusue. The Company and Dealers are keeping mum and they dont take your calls or respond to your emails. I shelled out Rs.43,000/ for this laptop and my hard earned money drained. The cursor jumps. They said that they fixed it but hehaving the same. Lot of trouble with the keyboard panel - The Number key board is not at all working.. Looks very cheap plastic board ; the DVD writer too very much plastic and coming moving in/out smoothly. Very Bad experiances for me. key board keys are too sensitive for very normal typing. unable to type correctly as the cursor is jumping nowhere. No wrist support. If you rest wrist slightly, the cursor goes for a toss. Not at all ergonamically designed to feel comfortness. Too much gap between the Keys and the frame. Inside parts are visible. So not at all Dust protective. Prone to damage the keys. Keys may come out of the board ! Not at all satisfied with the purchase. Made a terrible mistake by buying this product. If someone suggesting he may have a cut in commissions. Be aware before you buy this product.

My first HP, but having bought several refurb'd desktops from Overstock with great success, decided to give this a try. Its primary use is for the managing a website and reunion information, highly portable, adequate screen size (I like huge widescreens, but this works fine), decent performance, great DVD/RW, excellent features. Machine arrived ready to configure, no issues whatsoever, a nice setup. Machine itself arrived in immaculate condition, clean and shiny, no observable usage. For the money, this has been a great value... - the Core Duo is a decent chip, older, successful, no noticeable performance issues, fast clock speed. - 4GB memory never runs out of working space - 160GB HDD is more than adequate for my use, supports USB external drive(s) (I connect a 1TB samsung and a 2nd DVD/rw) - USBs are 2.0 but 4 ports is above average, nice to have extras for gadgets or recharging. - Display is very nice, clear - lots of "goodies" on the faceplate, such as touch controls for WiFi, Sound volume/mute, etc. - Win 7 Pro a definite plus. Cons: none! Pros: a great value for the cost! fyi: does NOT include a separate recovery disk; instead it has a boot option that restores Win7Pro to default factory state. Brilliant. ps: I prefer Linux to MicroSoft, and installed Linux Mint alongside Windows 7. Mint found all of the hardware and happily runs this HP without complaint. pss: previous experience with Toshiba laptops, happy with them all, this HP is equally pleasing. Am considering another.

Couldn't even get past the start up screen when setting up. Returned immediately. Beware of overstock's refurbished laptops in general. I went through 3!

From the specs on the overstock website these laptops are suppose to have web cams. However after receiving these laptops I have notice that the webcam has been removed. Also these laptops still have the manufactures warranty till next year. Also the center of the keyboard there is a touchpad that does not function like its suppose to. Also the finger print reader doesn't function. the quick launch buttons on the top don't function like it is suppose to. for example the audio quick launch button stays orange no matter what you do to it. I did go to hp's website and update the quick launch button software. however it did not resolve the issue. Cant do a complete recovery as they say as there was no actual windows 7 os disk. I'm disappointed that this does not have a webcam. I feel that I was lied to. The specs of the laptop I ordered which I ordered 3 of them are not what was put on overstocks website .

My husband wanted another laptop, to play games on. He bought this because it was cheap, and refurbished. I liked that it had office on it it is a nice looking laptop. But, we couldn't get it to work, properly. Gave it to my daughter-in-law, who has fixed computers. This laptop came w/a virus. One of the little extras that were surprised w/. So, how refurbished, was it. And, if my daughter-in-law hadn't been so techy, we would have been very disappointed. It would have been a big bust. Not a fan of this deal. Works great, now. Not interested in a refurbished pc, anymore. A bust.

I was very surprised w/the packaging. No padding inside and one small piece of tape to close it. When i received it, the box was partially open due to the lack of packaging tape. To my surprise the laptop worked, however, the internal battery does not. Either it doesnt work or they took it out. So anytime you use the laptop, you have to have it plugged in. This means there are a lot of places in public I cannot use it, which defeats the purpose of having a portable laptop. Sending back

It was a hassle to even buy the laptop. I ordered it using my boyfriends card and sent it to my house. Overstock would not send the package until they verified the card. Eventually they sent it, and when I got it I was pleased.. Then.. I turned it on. The battery doesn't hold a charge at ALL. So If I want to use the laptop, it has to be plugged in all the time. If it accidentally gets unplugged, it shuts down immediately. I emailed the seller and they told me they'd send a new battery. I sent my address, but they never replied and I have yet to receive a battery. I'm very dissatisfied but I need this laptop for work. I will not be purchasing anything from Overstock OR this seller ever. I will make sure my friends stay away as well.

In the Product Description it is clearly stated that this laptop comes with the following graphics card installed. NVidia Quadro NVS3100M with 256MB of dedicated memory. Here's the copied text from the product description page: Graphics: Nvidia Quadro NVS 3100M graphics with 256MB dedicated memory There is not a graphics card installed in this system except for the Intel(R) HD Graphics which is built into the motherboard on this system and will not support programs such as AutoCAD. Also, this laptop didnt come with any paperwork letting me know if I can possibly find another solution to the problem. I will simply have to schedule a return to Overstock.com. I am an engineering student and specifically ordered this refurbished laptop so that I could run AutoCAD. This laptop would be fine for your usual everyday use of MS Office products but if thats all you need it for then you can go find the sytem that they actually sent me for around $270 with a 1 year warranty rather than there 90 day warranty. I am extreamly disapointed and will never again order any type of electronics from Overstock.com, I will stick with rugs and the basic household items...maybe. Now my classes start in a couple days and I will not have a laptop or computer to do my school work on. I have to return this item wait to get refunded my money before I can afford to go out and find a laptop that will work for the software I need to use. I also ordered the docking station from Amazon and the item has already shipped so I will more than likely need to return that order as well.

The laptop itself could be a nice machine. I upgraded it to 4 GB of memory, and it's speedy enough for common everyday tasks. However, the keyboard has serveral keys that are hard to press and stick. I think that I can fix them, but that should have been taken care of in the Refurb process. I'm very dissapointed with this because I've gotten other Refurbs from Overstock, and they have been great!

Its a beautiful purple and Windows 8 syncs up to my phone! This is the ultimate in personalization. It gives you tons of options and its easy to use. The apps are infinite and the HD screen is so clear! You'd be smart to chose this laptop, especially students. The apps will really help you with your school or course work. And most of them are FREE!!

After several years of reliable performance from my Dell Inspiron 15R the motherboard finally failed. I needed a laptop immediately for work and school so I shopped around and found what I thought was a good deal on this machine. It has been nothing but a headache for the week I've owned it. First problem: The virus commonly know as Windows 8/8.1. Absolute garbage. The next problems include, but are not limited to: The AMD A6 5200 Quad-Core APU is disappointing. Dual Core i5s are better performers. I doubled the RAM to 8 gigs and it still runs Win8 like about as fast as a pregnant wiener dog walking backwards on a two foot leash. The build quality is typical of what you'd expect from a grade school aged assembler on the pacific rim working 16 hour days at bayonet point for a bowl of rice. Cheap, thin, brittle plastic. It's out of square so that if you set it down on a flat surface like a table or your desk it rocks on two of it's opposing four corners. I wonder if the motherboard is similarly twisted inside. I would return it but I've already wiped the HDD and put Ubuntu on it, thus invalidating the warranty. $** to get 'recovery media' from Toshiba. No thanks, you can keep your virus. Forget trying to downgrade to Windows 7, toshiba doesn't support windows 7 for this unit and the drivers just aren't available. In short, find something else. I am very angry at myself for spending my hard earned money on this laptop. Hopefully my experience can save other potential buyers similar grief. Although the laptop isn't aware, it is soon to spend the rest of it's days as a lab rat in my computer dungeon.

When you browse the large selection of laptops here on Overstock.com, you may see this icon that labels them as "refurbished." A refurbished laptop is either a computer that has been returned to the retailer or manufacturer for a refund by a customer or a computer that has just come off a lease. The computer may have had a slight defect or simply not met a customer's expectations. Before a laptop can be resold, any defective components are repaired or replaced and the computer is then carefully examined to ensure it works properly. Any computer that goes through this process must be identified as refurbished or reconditioned. Refurbished laptops can be a bargain compared to some new models, but it's important to make a few comparisons first to make sure you're getting a good deal.
