Be sure to ask why you are buying this clock before making the purchase. I read many reviews in advance and saw they were pretty split but I decided to see for myself. I think the reviewers -- both good and bad -- were correct. Here are my pros and cons:PRO -- Projection feature is nice, especially when I have my contacts out. Also, I enjoy seeing the outdoor temperature on the ceiling. The clock allows you to adjust the angle and direction of the projection very easily. It was simple to mount the outdoor component and it works great.CON -- As many have said, you cannot see the projection unless it is dark. Although you may be thinking this is obvious, the problem is that without the projection, you cannot see the time at all. The display is a tiny black on grey display that is not lit up at all. So, unless you are right next to the clock, you have no idea what time it is in the daytime. You can push any button and it will light up for two seconds, but you have to be right next to the clock. If you are using this as just a travel alarm clock, then this may not be a problem for you. PRO -- Dual alarms are a great feature and were one of the main reasons I bought this clock. They are easy to set and the little symbol for each alarm shows up on the display so you never have to wonder if you have the alarm set. The snooze feature is great! You can set it for any amount of time from 0 to 59 minutes. No preset time like 5 or 10 minutes only. Also, at any point during the snooze period, you can hit the snooze button and it will reset for the full period again. I love that feature. CON -- As many have noted, the alarms are not loud. There are no options either. Just a plain beep-beep-beep that will not wake someone who needs the sky to be falling in order to wake up. It's fine for me but really unimpressive. Even my phones give me about a dozen different alarm tones so I'm surprised an alarm clock like this just has the basic beep. One of the alarms does get louder after 25 and 50 seconds, but it's not really loud. There is no radio or buzzer, so that's all you have. PRO -- I found it very easy to set up but you do have to use your brain and follow the directions. You have to be sure to put the batteries in the remote transmitter FIRST and then you have to wait the 10 minutes for it to set up. It was really cool to see how the clock "found" Fort Collins, Colorado, and knew what time and date it was. I did have to change the time zone but that was easy enough. CON -- As some have said, the manual is very small and thick. Most of that is other languages, though, and I found the instructions easy to follow and not a problem. Maybe they could have been better organized, though. PRO -- It was all packaged very well. Some commented on the smell. I noticed a smell when I opened it up but it was fleeting. CON -- You need to fight through the packaging to get everything out. I hate this kind of plastic packaging that you have to find a way to cut open and then you end up cutting yourself! It does seem a bit cheaply made and the buttons are not the best. If you don't push on them in just the right spot, they don't seem to work. But this is not a deal breaker, just a nuisance.SUMMARY -- I would probably not buy this again -- mainly because of the small display. I like the novelty of the projection and weather features but didn't realize that I would not be able to see the time on the clock from anywhere else in the room except when I am right next to it. I have it in my bedroom and never know what time it is when I am getting ready for work, unless I have a watch on. Fortunately, I did not pay the retail price for this. I would have been majorly disappointed if I had. Frankly, I could have gotten a large display, dual-alarm clock at any retail store for half the price and it would have done the job. I fell for the projection feature on this and decided to try it. I've only had it a week and it seems to work fine but I doubt I would replace it, if something goes wrong with it. Also, I would not buy it for the guest bedroom b/c I think guests would want to be able to see what time it is. It's a cute travel alarm clock but I use my cell phone for that when I travel. If you just want the projection/weather feature, then you probably won't be disappointed. Just be sure to ask yourself why you are buying this clock.
This is a fabulous clock. It is easy to adjust the projection on the cieling, and its very easy to read. I thoroughly enjoy being able to glance at the cieling and get the time and temperature. I highly recommend it.
I love this product. I got it 14 months ago for my husband. We both love the clock. It shows the indoor and outdoor temperature. During the night it clearly shows the time and I never expected the clock to show the time on the ceiling during the day as I do not spend my days in bed. I think this is a great product and would recommend it to anyone. I love the fact that you can set the temperature in Celsius.
This clock has all the features I was looking for but espcially the ability to know the outside temperature before we even get out of bed.
Great clock at the best price on the web! I'm spoiled by the projection feature and the dual alarms. The weather forecasting is just icing on the cake. The projection numbers are clear and legible. I installed a battery for back-up. This allows me to pack it up for travel and the clock never misses a beat...my time and alarms are still set. Again, it has me spoiled and I'm lost without it. I highly recommend this clock!
I bought this for my husband as a gift. As cool as the indoor/outdoor weather feature is as well as the projection part, the main clock face or the digital numbers are not illuminated. You need to push the snooze button light up the clock face so its really hard to see the time (or if your alarm is set). I also found it coplicated and annoying to turn off the alarm. It is a neat idea, but it needs tweeking. Unfortunately, we will be replaceing tgis one in our bedroom.
Replaced a similar one I purchased several years ago -- works as advertised with no problems. No problem receiving outside temperature from remote sensor...just follow the included directions and it will work.
This looks good, shows the time on the wall you can even change how it works .. but i cant get the temperature to work and the directions are not that straight forward. It was too complex and feels really light = cheap. It does its job though i am not happy with it . I wish i didn't wait so long i would've sent it back.
Product and service were excellant. Would recomned to a friend
I bought this alarm clock for my mother to replace a projection alram clock she had that had broken. She is in her early 50s and said she had no trouble setting it up and so far she loves it. She has even tried to recommend it to others.
This clock projects on the ceiling, it is very bright and does the job we bought it for.It is a little difficult for me to figure out how to operate, but my husband did just fine.
LaCrosse is a respected name as is The Weather Channel. This weighed heavily on my my decision to purchase the Lacrosse Projection Weather Station WT-5432. The advertised features offered by this unit are impressive. The performance is poor. My primary concern with this unit is its inaccuracy in temperature measurement both indoors and outdoors. Temperature measurement is certainly not a high tech science and I am very dissatisfied in the measurement accuracy of this unit. The projection intensity is not great but acceptable in a dark room. The instruction manual is about average. The physical characteristics/appearance of the unit is good. My overall satisfaction and rating is Poor.
Takes about 1/2 hr to set up. Display not easy to see. Projection arm works well at night.
The button to turn the alarm off with is too hard to locate. The projection works well and I love the atomic clock feature. Still haven't gotten the transmitter for outdoor temperature to work at all, but that feature was not one I needed. Overall, good clock. I ordered more for gifts, but got the one that has fewer buttons on the bottom, so it is easier to turn the alarm off in the morning.
It is obvious that these instructions were in a foreign language and then slopily translated to Engrish (yes - I mean English). Once you get the instructions down it is pretty easy to set up and works like a charm. The alarm isn't very loud so I would suggest a back up if you are a hard sleeper. The brightness of the projection is nice, not too bright at all. The indoor and outdoor temp is right on the money. Pretty neat little gadget.
Buttons a bit small but otherwise good clock. Projection will ONLY be viewable in pitch dark. Otherwise great!
A little difficult to set up at first but has some nice features. I really like the outside temperature display. The instructions say to mount the sensor outside and don't get it wet. How is this possible? It also says the farther you mount the sensor from the clock the more inaccurate the outside temperature will display. But i did purchase it for the ceiling display only so the rest really does not matter, although it would be nice if the sensor was not so difficult to find the proper placemet.
The clock arrived in perfect shape and I suppose does everything that it is supposed to but is significantly smaller than I thought and the back light is the only way to see time in the dark unless you are close up to the laser display and backlight only stays on three seconds which is often aggrivating.
This is a great product that has great features! Assembly was a little confusing, but overall product is as stated in description.
i bought this a gift for my dad and he really liked it. except for the fact that you had to put the monitor thing for the temperature thing in a place outside where it wouldn't get wet. now my uncle want's one
