This drive does it all; DVDs, CDs and LightScribe. Worried about whether or not you got the proper media? Not an issue with this drive as it will burn the plus "+" and minus "-" dvds, the dual layer dvds and the Ram dvds so you can't go wrong. It also works with both R and RW media (DVDs and CDs) It comes packaged with Nero Express 6.0 Software (Lightscribe version) which is just great, powerful and simple to use. Easy to install, easy to use and blazing fast. DVDs have a max speed of 16x and CDs have a max speed of 48x. For those that don't understand speeds please note that 16x for a dvd is actually faster than 48x for a cd, dvds just hold so much more information that they take longer to completly fill. The drive is external so it's great if you have multiple computers, USB 2.0 compliant so the USB cable doesn't slow it down; in other words the usb cable won't stop you from achieving 16x dvd writing speeds. (Mine is actually plugged into a USB 2.0 7 Port hub and still achieves maximum speed.) Don't have a CD [label] printer, or don't like the sticker labels that won't ever stay down? Buy lightscribe media and use the drive to laser etch you labels directly to the disc. Lightscribe won't smudge or peel, unlike the sticker labels. Only negative is that the drive is NOT "hot swapable". Which means you have to use the Disconect Device feature of Windows, or turn off your computer, before you remove it from the system. (Don't confuse this with Plug 'n' Play [PnP] as it is PnP compatiable which means it installs easily) All and all, I am a happy owner of this LG Super-Multi external drive. (Included in the box was: The Drive, the power cable and converter, a USB B cable, software CD and instruction manual.)

This product is great! Installation was simple and it has preformed perfectly.

I purchased this external drive for it's lightscribe feature. I created over a hundred CDs for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. They are renewing their vows and we are using the CDs as wedding favorites. The lightscribe did an excellent job. The only drawback is that it does not lightscribe in color. Maybe that will be the future technology.

i bought this external burner because my burner on the computer was off and on.this burner was easy to install and has been burning great.i am really pleased at the results.it also has light scribe which i don't really use.i would recommend this burner to everyone,especially at the price i paid!!i love overstock!

This is a very good bargain. It does everything I need. I love the lightscribe capability.

This DVD burner performs well, though I haven't really used the light scribe feature yet.

Everything was excellent: the condition, the functionality, the packaging. The only thing I'm having difficulty is accessing the function of lite writing to make designs on a CD.

Very happy with The DVD Burner. It works as expected. I do not like the software program that it comes with though. It does not work like it should with Windows Vista. Other Window versions may not have the same problem though.

So far so good!!!! Works flawlessly for the past week, but 1 thing that is retarded about it is the software that comes with it. The first time I went to make a DVD the software wanted me to buy the "full" version. I figured out my way around it and now I've been a DVD making machine :)

I am very happy with this new addition to my pc. My computer's cd rom driver stopped opening/working so I looked around for a replacement. I wasn't quite comfortable with if I would be ordering the correct size cd rom drive to fit inside my pc. Well you don't need to worry about the LG Electronics External DVD-RW Dual Layer Drive. It just sits on top of your pc and you only need to connect it by the usb cable and power cord, and install the software and that is it. This was a very easy process. Now I did not have to buy a new pc and have a great working cd rom drive. I highly recommend this product.

Hardware works well, so far so good, burned many cd/dvd's in just a few weeks - power cord is very short though, replaced it with one from an old radio, better now- for refurb the hardware seems to work very well - the software that comes with it (driver & such) is not worth the install, just let windows install the device and use nero or freeware such as ashampoo burner...

This was a great buy for my daughter she loves to burn cds this was perfect for her you plug it in and its ready to go. We use it with a dell desktop that has a cd drive but it does not burn cds or dvd and this does it is perfect. She can burn a cd in under 4mins. She loves it....perfect for the price just perfect....

Well, I haven't had it for long, but it seems to be performing as well as expected. I guess the length of it's life will be the overall test.

I was a little concerned about buying this, never having purchased refurbished electronics before. I held off reviewing because I wanted to see if it held up over time. So here it is a year later and the DVD burner is still working perfectly. Of course, Overstock might not still be selling this, but if they are, have no fears. It's a true bargain!
