I purchased this hard drive to archive about 30 GB worth of data. The drive worked great with Windows XP on a non-IBM machine. I just plugged it in and it was recognized like every other external drive. The drive does require to USB ports (one for power and one for the data connection). Regarding transfer rates, it is not super fast, but about what I was expecting. Right now it is transferring data at about 1GB every 4 minutes. The drive also comes with a decent protective case and is shipped in some very secure packaging. I'd definitely recommend this drive if you have 37 GB of data or less you need to back up and don't mind slower transfer speeds.

The memory is fine but the rescue and recovery did not install on windows vista. A request for additional information was sent to Lenovo who sent a Ph. # for tech support. I have not yet had a chance to call.
