To sum it up, I really hate this product. I have had nothing but problems with it. The dvd player only reads my dvds when it wants to and other times it will constantly eject by itself. I will hit the close button and it still opens. Sometimes after repeating this process 10 -15 times (and I'm not rounding up) it will finally acknowledge that a dvd is in there but other times I just give up because it gets extremely aggravating. When I bought this product, I read the reviews and they were all pretty good. People seemed to like this product. So I took my chances. I wish that I was able to write a good review about this product too but thats just not happening!

The 1st recorder I received was faulty. I received a 2nd one before I even shipped the 1st one back. Customer service was great as was the shipping speed. The unit itself works fine and is easy to operate. I was unsure about buying something refurbished, but I would definitely buy again, new or refurbished from Overstock. Great transaction guys!

The packaging was obviously reused, but they protected the product very well during shipping. I did note a large gash on the back end of the unit along with some scratches near the front and top. All cosmetic issues however as the unit functioned perfectly. DVD burning from videotape is really easy to setup and you have the ability to choose the video quality which will also affect the number of hours you can record on a single DVD. I have not tried adding more than 1 video tape to a DVD. Not sure if the player finalizes the DVD once the tape is complete so you can't record more or not. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

The price was awesome for this product. However, you get what you pay for. This player will not record even my home movies off vhs to dvd. It also rejects most of our dvd's stating it can't read them. Two of these dvd's were brand new. I will probably send this item back. I was very disappointed....

easy hookup.....beautiful picture on the dvr....enough said ....well worth the investment if just for that... i haven't tried recording to dvd yet but the other is worth the price....

This product works well to transfer VCR recordings of home movies, etc. to DVD, which is why I bought it. However, it will NOT record movies on VCR that have copy-protection.

So far, this is a great product. After purchasing a new camcorder, I was disappointed in the quality of the DVDs produced when I connected the camcorder to my PC. So, I bought this unit and was able to plug my camcorder directly into it and record directly to DVD - quick, easy and great quality! I've also watched DVDs, VCRs, and broadcast TV through the unit and so far everything works fine.

I ordered this product and returned it the same day. The machine does record from VHS to DVD--but the catch is that the resulting DVD apparently will only play back in the same Insignia machine! It will not play in a regular DVD player (I tried two different ones), or a computer. It played back fine from the Insignia machine that recorded it, but everything else said "disc error", "unreadable disc," or "you have inserted a blank DVD."

It does just what it's supposed to do. I was glad to find out it worked exactly like the Insignia recorder I already had -- that saved me some time studying the manual. It really does copy VCR to DVD with the touch of a button (and a simple menu); it also copies DVD to VCR, a feature I found surprisingly useful. I have used the timer to record many programs and I find it very convenient and easy to use.

I bought this DVD Recorder/VCR because my old one was not very good and I wanted to be able to record DVDs. So far, this one has performed to expectations. I only wish that it would display the time even when powered off. It is possible that it has this capability and I haven't found it yet. But that is the only thing I miss from my old DVD/VCR.

the recorder works great the only problem i have with it is the recorder will not record from my cable with copy right protection.i beleave this should have been in it,s information of what it could do and not do.

I wasn't aware that the recorder produced DVD's that won't work on other recorders. I wasn't familiar with the various DVD formats. Consequentely, I'm not happy with this order. Otherwise, the unit works fine.

I had taped alot of family movies of when my daughter was little on VHS and even transferred 8mm film of my childhood pictures on VHS tapes. I was concerned that all these memories would be lost if not transferred to DVD, especially when I realized that I was replacing all of the VHS players in my home with DVD players. I thought this was the solution and I was right!! I can't beleive how easy it is to use, I wish everything in my life was this easy. I put 5 VHS tapes on one DVD!! Treasured memories in alot less space as well!! The product came in "new" condition with remote and user manual. I love it and I recommend it.
