My last notebook was an old IBM ThinkPad and it still works fine. The only reason I upgraded to the T40 is that my 600 just can't handle the processor-intensive software that I use. The T40 has lived up to my expectations of an IBM product ,and then some! I am very pleased and feel very comfortable in recommending this ThinkPad to anyone. Sure, it's a factory-refurbished product, but with my previous experience with IBM, I had no concerns at all. Want a great rugged little (and THIN!) notebook? Get a ThinkPad!

The laptop is great is was easy to set up and to use and is really fast on my wireless high speed connection.My granddaughter prefers it over the desktop now. I can't wait till thanksgiving when I go on vacation to take it with me so I will be connected away from home.

This is my first laptop, and I feel that I made a wonderful choice with this IBM Thinkpad. I really wanted a laptop that ran Windows XP, not Vista. This laptop gave me the operating system that I wanted at a price that was amazing. I was a bit skeptical with a refurbished item, but I took a chance and I'm so glad that I did! (I also picked up the extended warranty, just in case I would need it down the road) My laptop is perfect. It worked right out of the box and I haven't had any issues with it, and I've been using it for over a month. I'm astonished at its speed for a laptop - this thing has power. I've had several programs running at once and I haven't had any problems. Anyone who wants the flexibility of a laptop and not the high price tag should really look into this item - it is outstanding!!! Buying this was money well spent!

The laptop was fine until just past the 90 days.Now it freezes right after start up, can't even run a diagnostic in DOS. You get what you pay for.

This looks brand new...not a scratch on the case, inside or anywhere I can find. It is SO light. I got this for my husband for travel and he loves it. It is not a powerhorse like my newer Duo Core 2 , but that is not what he wanted. He also prefers XP to Vista. So this was perfect. No problems so far but he just got it. I bought an extended warranty through Square Trade, so we should be covered. Thanks!

I can't tell you how very pleased my son was with his new laptop. Getting it was a surprise but the features and the performance was over the top. He's so happy with his gift and that makes me very happy indeed. Thank you. The thinkpad T40 was one of my best purchases ever/ Overstock.com saved me $$$ as I could not afford otherwise. Its in excellent condition and my daughter is really benefiting in school from having it. She loves it. Thanks, Patsy

I purchased this machine since I had one like it on my last job. I received the machine in good working order, however the chargeable battery that came with it does not charges up at all. This means that it will have to be replaced increasing the price (my cost) of the overall computer.

Just after the 90 days passed the computer died, freezes at start up.

This is not the fastest laptop I've ever used but for under $400.00 it is a good value. The battery was DOA but a simple online chat with an Overstock CSR resolved the problem. They shipped me a new (refurbished) battery the next day. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

I just got my thinkpad in the mail yesterday. I plugged it in and went right to work on it....no problems whatsoever. It looks in brand-new condition....you would never know it was refurbished.

This has turned out to be a good bread-and-butter laptop at a great price. It arrived promptly, configured as advertised and in good working condition, with all the hardware and drivers installed properly and all components functioning correctly. Setup was pretty easy, although I did have to do some simple housekeeping (cleaning up old files and software, etc.). This was nothing particularly difficult or beyond what I expected to do on a reconditioned machine. I've used it for a few weeks for light office work, field presentations and general mobile Web surfing and it has performed very well. The only limitation I've found is that the wireless card isn't compatible with the newest wireless security and isn't supported by the OEM anymore. This could cause some folks problems, depending on how they want to use their laptop, but it isn't a problem for me.

I'm totally not a tech geek. A friend of mine had to hook this up for me. It took him a little time b/c IBM has some admin software that does something with the wireless [connection]. I don't know. But I know HOW to use it! And it works great!! I bought this b/c my classes are now video-streamed so I needed a laptop with enough [whatever] to get high speed data / video and could be connected thru my television to watch class. It's totally lightweight, works really well and probably does MUCH more than I will ever ask of it. He also told me that it did not come loaded with software - like Word and such - that he loaded for me. I'm just putting this info on here b/c I always thought computers came "fully loaded." I can't be the only one who thinks that. But he said it was easy enough to load up, hook up and work.

This computer is great if you just want something to access the internet with. I was able to take it out of the box and be online in minutes. The computer looked brand new, only thing missing was an instruction manuel. Best of all it does not use Vista operating system. Very good buy for the money.

I'm very pleased with this laptop..first one I've ever had too!!

I like the computer but I am unhappy with the setup. When I got it the USB ports had not been reset from when the Windows had been reset. Also when I close the computer it goes into sleep mode and I can't get it out so I have to turn it off, I also can't let it go into sleep mode, I had to turn that feature off. Other than that I am very happy with the product.

Nice item and works well, however within TWO DAYS of receiving the laptop, we needed to defragment the hard drive.

Install took longer than I would have thought with all of the IBM features. But once we got past that, the laptop has been a great success. We got the laptop for my mom to use, and even though she isn't computer savy, she has taken to it quickly. Overall it was a great deal for someone who needed a place to deal with pictures of grandkids, word processing, and easy mobility!

After years of traveling by air/car, I finally purchased this laptop. It wasn't that I couldn't afford one as much as I thought it would be a complicated deal to get connected to internet in my hotel stays. When I saw the reduced price AND the fact that this laptop was wireless ready, I was ready! I was a little concerned about the "reconditioned" part of the deal, but opted to pursue the purchase with confidence. Glad I did. I've had the laptop less than a month, but all seems to work great. I purchased a wireless mouse to go with, connected it and set it up at my home network. Pretty much instant connection both there and at my first hotel. The other plus was getting the XP Pro INSTEAD of the new Vista which comes on all the new computers. I didn't want it. Good deal. I'm pleased. Only downside I have found is that the battery that came with it only holds power about 2 hrs. max. Got to see if there is another one out there that holds power longer?? Would I do it again? You betcha!
