Customer Reviews
the cd dvd drive was useless, it doesnt even eject the door to put a disc in. the only thing else that wasnt rite was the six days of uploading that it had to put me threw. o and the video quality was a little blurry and slow. other than that it is an alright computer for just simple enternet browsing and music.
Think hard about buying it. In fact, think about 15 times before considering buying ANY IBM Thinkpad (Lenovo included). Needless to say, this has been a total waste; however, I upgraded to vista and the processor has been great. If you could see this computer now... it looks like it has been through battle, through heck and beyond. I am missing a key from my keyboard--it's been gone for two and a half years. Six months after buying it, the thing popped off after the clips to hold it in place broke. Now, my backspace and space bar are threatening to detach. The touchpad buttons are hanging on literally by a small piece of plastic; I have only used that for two years--the touchpad connection came unhooked and I had to unscrew the palm rest to reattach it sometime last year. My palm rest refuses to return to its original position, hovering 2mm over where it used to be securely attached. Pixels have gone out in mass quantity in the screen and of course, the charger has needed to be replaced 3 times (? I don't get it, either). So lesson learned: skip this great deal, Overstock buyers, and choose something else. Buyer beware!
The T41 is a compact laptop with minimum bells and whistles but suffices for most processing needs. It came with Windows XP and had to update to the Service Pack 2 download before I could load Office 2007, but with a little work and time it did work. Seems to be working fine but there were a few minor "burned" in spots on the display. Nothing serious but of course with most things refurbished "buyer beware." I have not fully taxed the system, but it seems to be working fine. Extra RAM is a must and is relatively inexpensive. However, there are several price drops with other new model laptops that come very close to the price of this refurbished model and I would think twice about buying a "new" rather "refurbished" for price of this laptop. I like it and I hope it sees many hours of productive use.
