I got the machine for not much more than the price of the operating system. It is fine for word processing, picture editing and burning audio disks. Good box for a student on a budget. It does not come with a lot of pre-installed software, so I installed Open Office and a free antivirus program. Only shortcoming is that the DVD rom only recognizes standard format DVDs. If you have a lot of documents or .jpg's stored on a data DVD, it will not see them. You will have to store data on CD's.
