Customer Reviews
Rock solid machine, Literally. Computer is heavy and built tough. Appearance is neat and "techy" but the main advantage is the operating system...Windows XP professional. No bugs like vista. Using it as a work station on a network. For a stand alone computer, the memory and storage capacity would need to be upgraded. Good value
The refurbished IBM computer came with a few surprise enhancements. The hdd interface was upgraded from an EIDE type to a SATA. All worked flawlessly. This is the third refurbished purchase I have made and I am very happy with all of them. I will buy overstock refurbished again. I usually do not write reviews but the money I saved over buying new is a real positive.
Instead of the several years I wasted money on upgrading an old computer, I should and when the upgrades were too much for the orginal motherboard, i should have gone shopping at Overstock for a newer computer. The installation was a snap that even an preschooler could have done, it was packaged wonderfully and carefully but easy access. The delivery as usual from Overstock was earlier than predicted, which was great for me being I am a completely computer savy grandmother who cannot exist without a desk top at home. I have nothing but praise for this purchase of my IBM refurbished computer. It works better than the computer I have at work and it is owned by the government. My computer came with virus protection and IBM support package, utilities I have were a snap for recogniciton of the hardware and software addition was flawless.I keep looking into other great bargins such as this one especially at Overstocks web site daily, as I said I am a pretty savy dependent women of the electronic devine.
This computer is exceptionally well made (more sturdy than a Dell). It was very, very easy to set up and we have been very pleased with it.I would recommend it highly!
This IBM system was very easy to set up and came with several internet browsers, Norton antivirus and accessories like calculator, wordpad, notepad, and paint. It does not come pre-loaded with extra software packages like Micorosft Office so be prepared to purchase and install software separately. We set up kid and adult users and buried the control panel and boosted security settings on the kid user account. It was very easy to configure. This system was purchased for a child to get games off our home computer and is perfect for kids games. If this were to be a main home computer, I would suggest comparing this system plus the cost of software desired against pre-bundled systems. Keep in mind that this computer is about 5 year-old technology (XP among other things) but for our purpose it was very worth the price and is a great value.
