I am a beginner dig SLR user, and i was going to Hawaii for vacation. With all the ocean glare out there, this filter did the job nicely. I had so much fun taking pictures of the ocean scenery minus the glare! And taking pictures of marine life through the surface of the water was a blast!

The Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter came exactly as described and in a very timely fashion. I had looked at several different places, internet and local and this was the cheapest by far. I was concerned that because of the cheap price the filter would be subpar too. Not the case I used the camera on a vacation in Cancun and recieved some stunning pictures. If you are thinking about this filter think no more just order it.

A circular polarizer (CPL) makes a huge difference to landscapes, and I would say it is one of the few filters that we all need in this digital age where the effects of many other filter effects can be post-processed. It reduces reflections from water and glass, and dramatically increases contrast in blue skies and clouds. The differences are very clear when you shoot landscapes or water bodies.
This particular version is the lowest end Hoya CPL filter, and is a great filter for prosumer cameras and for cheaper kit lenses on SLRs. I use this on my old Canon G3 (with an adapter), and it works beautifully.
But if you put this one in front of really good lenses, like some of the fast Canon prime lenses or the L-series zooms (on an SLR or a DSLR), you WILL see an appreciable decrease in image quality (ghosting, flares, etc), due to reflection from internal elements, and a noticeable decrease in contrast. You will need HMC or SHMC filters (which are multi-coated to prevent reflections) for those lenses to perform to their capacity.
As always, the price here is quite good, cheaper than I have seen on any other reputable site.

I'm new to SLR cameras, and this is one of the first filters I've bought. Aside from that, I think this is a great filter that really brings out those blue tones in the sky. Compared to some of the other filters I've tried, I find that Hoya filters take a little more time to screw onto the lens. Overall, I do recommend this lens - especially at this price.

I was looking for a filter for my camera and at the camera store this filter was $45 dollars. When I found it on Overstock for less that half the cost with frieght I was very supprised. I purchase this filter and it was exactly what I was looking for and it worked just fine.

Hoya, a well known name in filters, has continued to manufacture excellent glass filters. The circular filter is an excellent choice for anyone who takes landscape or other outdoor photographs. By rotating the filter one can eliminate lens glare, and reflections off water surfaces. Overstock offers an entire line of these top-rated filters at competitive prices....
