Recent Customer Reviews in Hard Drives

Since there were no assembly instructions I contacted "O" to see if I could get some. After a week of thinking about it they said they had none! I did an internet search and found Amazon had the same item and in their product review were information about assembly. It turns out the knobs on the 2 rectangular pieces fit into the 2 front screw holes of the drive and then slide into some grooves in the case. The drive was still slightly loose so I cut 2 small pieces of Styrofoam and out them on the end of the drive. That solved the problem. The only other problem is the power cord doesn't fit very snugly into it's socket and can easily fall out. So be careful when moving the drive around while transferring data.

Nice little drive for older synthesizers that use SCSI. You may need an adapter for the SCSI connection based on your setup. The drive did get warm fast, a characteristic of the older Seagate drives. The price was low to argue about anything though. It arrived well packaged and it looked new. It has an IBM logo on it stating that it was made for server use (which explains the 10000 rpm speed) so it may have been used in such applications before.

I was nervous about attempting to use the hard drive from an older computer in this way. I've always been good at taking things apart - not so good at putting back together. It couldn't have been any easier. Following the instructions included, I removed the HD, popped it into the enclosure, formatted to remove the old operating system, and it worked beautifully! I use it as an external drive for video and audio file storage and for backups.
