I wanted to have a device being able to track the miles I hike during my trip. That's was I got in eTrex 20. Although it seems to have a little inaccuracy: even when I do not move, my track positions on the map is jumping around, when I walk, it count a little extra (about +1%), but when I make more longer stops, this "extra" becomes bigger. Probably, it is a "feature" of all navigators - I have never tried more expensive models.

Got this for Christmas to use for geocaching and I have had a hard time figuring out how to use it, but it is getting better. Like it better than hubby's Magellan Triton 400. I am new to GPS use except for the one installed in my car. It is easy to download the info and all, but knowing which way to get to the spot we need hasn't always been easy.

We are just learning all the ins and outs of the device (there are some great instructional videos on YouTube when you enter Garmin 62 stc in the search field), and we keep finding more and more it can do. One point: we chose the stc model (the series has s and st as well) because the c stands for camera. It includes a 5 megapixel camera that will geo-stamp the exact location where the photo was taken. That saves carrying a separate camera for just random snapshots, although a camera on even a phone would probably be better than 5 megapixels. The reason we bought the stc that includes this camera was that most of the topographical maps come preloaded, which saves about $100 for each map CD or computer download from Garmin that you make. If we travel to, let's say, a Canadian city, New York, or DC, we will prob...
