This is a brand new phone, although the model is about 3 years old. We bought it to replace a dead dumb phone for my son. I wasn't willing to buy a current model smartphone, as he is still in High School, and latest/greatest phones get stolen. He appears to be very pleased with it. My wife has had this model since it was new, and it still performs well nearly 3 years later (far better than my 6 months newer top of the line Motorola). She hates changing phones, so if hers starts to die, we'll get my son a new one and give her his. The AT&T rep who activated it said this model is unusually durable. They almost never see a dead one, people just replace them because they want something newer.
