Will not scan pages longer than 14". As previous poster stated the scanner will not scan a document longer than 14". It will error out and give you a paper jam code, so there is no way to even scan the 14" of the document then scan the other side and paste. HP customer support was less than helpful. I was told they would look into changing the spec sheets and talking to their retail partners. After a year it is still being sold on many retailer sites as scanning up to 34". If you scan receipts, you are bound to scan one that is longer than 14"

HP Scanjet 1000 portable scanner. After receiving the HP Scanjet 1000, and loading in all the software 4 disks, 1 driver, and 3 different aplication softwares. Found out that it wasn't preforming as advertised. there spec sheet on verstock.com as well as spec sheet downloadable from HP was in error. I purchased it for the boasted scan size of 8.5 x 34. I was unable to get this and thought I was missing a twain driver. I called Overstoc.com support and was on the phone for about 45 minutes, no resolution here, even though the Tech left no stone unturned. I called Hp, after 5 times calling and getting switched to another department that was the incorrect one, because no one could find or didnt work on this scanner. Reached a tech support person who helped me find out that they didnt have an answer based on all the support avail to him. He escalated the case. 2 days later i got a call and email saying that I should be happy to know that they are going to correct there software specs to 8.5 x 14. Yes I was just thrilled. I will now go back and read all the spec sheets for the 10 plus HP devices I have to see if they are correct. What a waste of time, I spent an hour and 1/2 working with HP techs. On a lighter note, the Scanner can work right off usb port no addl power needed. It is very lightweight and comes with carring case. scans well if you change the default dpi, and use the automatic settings for image correction. If you scan an image longer than 14 inches, it will stop scan function till you close out software then reload. Says paper jam or some other lame excuse but will not let you reset till you close everything out. If you don't need to rely on HP specs , then it works well.
