As always, Overstock delivered in quick time, about 4 business days. I was actually shocked at the condition of this computer both inside and out as it was clean as a whistle with nary a nick or scratch on it. It looked brand new. I've had my son's older gaming computer since he went to college and had already done some big upgrades to it over the years. I even replaced the processor once, but when that failed again (after two years), I knew I had to either invest money in another much older processor for compatibility or salvage what I could and move up as a brand new computer was out of the question given I just bought a netbook for mobile computing . My first thoughts turned to finding an older refurbished computer, but most did not have the necessary internals to handle those things I wanted to strip out of my old computer like an available AGP slot for the older video card or extra RAM slots that could later be used to further upgrade my RAM. The Dells on Overstock and elsewhere, while cheap, didn't provide enough information for me to assess what I could beef up or not and Dell's website is hideous to use for older products unless you have a serial number or service tag. Those that did provide information really couldn't be upgraded considerably. However, HP's website had the entire computer manual for this computer available, easily located, which gave all the internal information you'd need as well as other info. This computer was PERFECT for my needs. One of the biggest pluses, outside of the AGP slot for my older 128MB video card, is that the RAM can be upgraded to as much as 4 GBs meaning this won't become obsolete and slow as programs grow in complexity. The manual even told you exactly what type of RAM you'd need and the necessary configuration in the four slots. Before I installed my own RAM, this computer still ran briskly and smoothly. Now with 2GB's (one 1GB, one 512k, and the original two 256k sticks it comes with) it's zippier than my older computer that had the much slower, older processor. The processor on this computer is also an excellent value and speed for a refurb being a Pentium versus Intel's line of cheaper, slower processor the Celeron. This weekend's project is to install the video card, Soundblaster audio card, and the DVD writer. I'll deal with the 160GB hard drive on another day as I'm unsure whether I can simply add it as a second drive when it runs a different version of XP (Home) or if I'll have to wipe it clean. That's another plus for this system, Windows XP Professional. That's Microsoft's best OS right now. Vista is awful. Additionally, the amount of USB slots is excellent with two of the six located in the front for easy access along with headphone and mic jacks. For those who are not ready, willing or able to do any upgrades, and aren't huge power users outside of your basic computer stuff like internet surfing, email, listening to music, and Office programs, bookkeeping, photo importing, etc. this is an excellent value with good bones that you can always later upgrade should your needs change. And the one-year warranty on a refurb is the best I've seen. Most are only 60-90 days. Thanks again Overstock for a great experience!

This desktop is quite fast and was easy to install, The Main problem with it is the USB ports do not function

PC arrived in 1 day (from NJ to NY). It looked absolutely brand new. XP activation - quick and easy.Very quiet and very fast PC. Plenty of expansion slots. 3 PCI + 1AGP. Expansion was one of the most important factors for me - to prolong the life of expensive PCI/AGP Sound and Video cards and XP compatible software that I run now.. For the money - 5 stars in all rating categories.Eventually I will migrate my 300gb hd drives, dvd RWs and dual monitor video cards and 2 additional sound cards and 2gb DDR memory into this machine.Excellent!

Product arrived on time and in like-new condition. Has worked flawlessly so far. A GREAT buy.

This was my first purchase of this type on the internet. I was attracted by the good value and the fact that I could still get a computer with Windows XP. The program matches with a second computer I already have in my small at-home office and I needed it to be compatible. There were some features I did not think to look for that I obviously missed, but that was my fault. There was opportunity to speak on-line with someone and I chose not to; that again was my fault. I'm happy with the general performance, although the DVD player runs noisy. For my application this probably won't be an issue unless it is because it is faulty. I will be waiting to see. My electronics skill level is very low, which is the only reason I couldn't grade the installation higher. My helper had no problems. I will likely use Overstock.com again and I would be glad to recommend it to friends.

Thank, you, Overstock. I wanted a reliable and quiet CPU with Windows XP and you have fulfilled my wish list. I wanted this machine to be pretty bare-banes, so I could add the RAM, extra hard drive and DVD burner I had on hand. This PC is easy to work in and the tool free case is great. The front USB connection to the motherboard was misplaced, but easily fixed (tell your refurbisher). This PC is extremely quiet. It's very fast and so far reliable. I had no problem activating Windows XP with the COA on the case (It's a Windows product key, not an Office 2007 product key!) I wholeheartedly recommend this machine, especially to someone not averse to adding a few peripherals, which is quite easy to do. The price is totally right, and that's coming from a seasoned tech shopper. Keep up the good work, Overstock, and I'll keep coming back for more!

The product key for office 2007 that is provided on the top of the hard drive is not accepted by the software loaded into the program. The overall performance of the equipment is great! I as so glad to find something that was not loaded with Vista- I plan on using Overstock soon to purchase electronics for my business. Thank you!

Well - this review's NOT good for our computer. It was apparently not refurbished properly, but I'm so impressed with Overstock's handling of the situation. Free shipping label and a full refund. No questions asked. I will rebuy a different refurbished unit from them since this one is no longer in stock, due to their high service level. Look for those 1 year DISTRIBUTOR warranties! I'm assuming the rest will go smoothly. I hope so.

This is a good way to get an additional affordable computer that is garanteed to work well. All you need is a monitor to use it and they are also affordable if you buy a refurbished one which are also offered by Overstock.

Only reason not a 5 is because the PC itself is not what I would consider a "Powerhouse". But, I was basically looking for a kick-around basic work horse, and for the price it serves it's purpose well. Pluses is that it comes with Windows XP installed, and also came with the OS cd, and it was dirt-cheap. I added RAM, a sound card, & a video card to jazz it up a bit. I like the fact that it came with a floppy drive. Negatives are a smaller HD (I added an external drive for storage), came with minimum RAM for XP, integrated sound & video, and CD player is low-budget. But all this can be up-graded. Works great for what I need it for, and definitely worth what I paid for it.

This machine has everything I was looking for. It is so quiet I had to look at the back and make sure the fans were running.

This refurbished PC has performed great since we took it out of the box and installed it. Speed is great and no issues with performance to-date. I would buy another unit without hesitation if the PC continues to work without problems. Only complaint would be that shipping was little slower that we would have liked.

My computer recently broke after it's 7 year run and I'm taking classes online I didn't have another computer I I ordered this one right away, I was half expecting it to be here next Friday but it came yesterday, I missed the UPS guy, but I got it and hooked it up today and it runs great! I loved the value since the old one I had was 1400 bucks and the fact that my screen was fine and I could just get a tower... AMAZING! errors every time computer boots. cpu fan is veryyyy loud and annoying. system clock resets every time the computer restarts. even though it's refurbished, it still shouldn't have problems like this.
