My first HP, but having bought several refurb'd desktops from Overstock with great success, decided to give this a try. Its primary use is for the managing a website and reunion information, highly portable, adequate screen size (I like huge widescreens, but this works fine), decent performance, great DVD/RW, excellent features. Machine arrived ready to configure, no issues whatsoever, a nice setup. Machine itself arrived in immaculate condition, clean and shiny, no observable usage. For the money, this has been a great value... - the Core Duo is a decent chip, older, successful, no noticeable performance issues, fast clock speed. - 4GB memory never runs out of working space - 160GB HDD is more than adequate for my use, supports USB external drive(s) (I connect a 1TB samsung and a 2nd DVD/rw) - USBs are 2.0 but 4 ports is above average, nice to have extras for gadgets or recharging. - Display is very nice, clear - lots of "goodies" on the faceplate, such as touch controls for WiFi, Sound volume/mute, etc. - Win 7 Pro a definite plus. Cons: none! Pros: a great value for the cost! fyi: does NOT include a separate recovery disk; instead it has a boot option that restores Win7Pro to default factory state. Brilliant. ps: I prefer Linux to MicroSoft, and installed Linux Mint alongside Windows 7. Mint found all of the hardware and happily runs this HP without complaint. pss: previous experience with Toshiba laptops, happy with them all, this HP is equally pleasing. Am considering another.
