I love love love this gps! As someone who often finds themselves not knowing where I am going, this is the most perfect aid. What a great gift idea too its so handy!

My daughter has one that works great. When mine came it could not find the satellite and believes it is in another state. I have returned it for replacement. Overstock was great with the return and I am hoping the next one works as well as the one my daughter has.

This device performs as advertised. Even "Low-Tech" individuals, such as myself, will have little problem using it. If you travel much out of town or out of state, it can save you time, money and headaches. No more stopping for directions or nagging from the better half!

I was very excited when I read the specs on the Nuvi 1690. I was most intrigued by the connectivity service through Garmin's NuLink service. Unfortunately, at least for me, it did not work one time. I live in San Diego (with good AT&T service which supplies the connectivity) and not once was I able to connect. It would constantly say "Server busy, please try again latter". I also took it on a business trip to LA and New York with no results. I'm assuming that it was an issue with the hardware or setup since I did upgrade to the latest firmware. It's know it's not AT&T because I get fantastic service with my handsets and I did not run into drop outs on my phone while traveling. I tried to contact Garmin for support and it was a waste of time. I waited 45 minutes on hold without talking to a soul. This seems to be a constant problem for everyone that seeks support with them. The GPS itself looks and works fantastic. Tons of useful features, great interface and fast connection to satellites. I just wish the connectivity would work for me. I sent it back and got a 765T. Not as many features but pretty solid GPS wise. I'll wait for the next gen of NuLink devices. Hopefully I'll have better luck. Bummer...
