  • Great backup Camera

I bought this camera as a back up camera and it works great. My main camera is a Kodak and does just about everything this camera does, but between the two, the Fuji camera is easier to get to some of the features, such as the continuous shoot modes, Fuji has a button just for that while the Kodak doesn't. The Fuji panoramic picture mode is also easier to use, simply set the setting from three choices, aim and click and slowly turn for a perfect panoramic photo. My Kodak z990 has a 30X zoom, while this Fuji has a 40X zoom, but the two zooms are different. The Kodak z990 the photo becomes much closer but covers less area, while the fuji gets closer, but covers a wider area, which is great for most photos, but I like to get as close to wildlife as I can so I usually reach for my Kodak first. As far as video goes, the Fuji out performs the Kodak and for shooting nature videos, I always reach for the Fuji. Both cameras do very well on close ups such as old coins or flowers, you can get right up on a bee, both do well here as well. For shooting the moon, the Kodak gets a far closer and clearer shot, but only if the manual settings are set correctly. On standard cropping, both cameras do very well, but on extreme cropping, the Kodak does better. As far as night photography goes, both cameras do extremely well in low lighting without the use of a flash. Both cameras allow you to zoom while shooting a video. Both cameras zoom in and focus well. At full zoom, I think the Kodak is slightly better, but i never use a tripod - which you should do when using this kind of a zoom. Inside photos, in both bright rooms and low lighting, both cameras do very well without any flash. Both cameras use 4 AA batteries and here the Kodak uses less battery than the fuji, but the Fuji does well compared to other cameras I have owned. I do not have any complaints on either camera and am very happy with the over all results of the fuji.
