EXTREMELY difficult to set up. I am above average computer savvy. I've never had a problem before this camera in setting equipment up. The router SHOULD be able to detect new wi-fi devices. However, this camera is old school wi-fi and MUST be set up using old Windows XP or older. Fortunately, one of my four computers is old. I keep it for basic stuff but never dreamed I would have to use it for surveillance. I have spent way too many hours getting this thing to give me a visual. I can get a good picture but have not been able to get it to alarm or record data yet. This camera is not for the faint of heart or those with newer equipment. I haven't decided if I will return both of these cameras yet. To be continued.

this camera is amazing with it's night vision.. It took awhile to set up with the Blue Iris software.. But after it's set up it works great.

I was suprised right from opening the box of the nice industrial (metal) quality of this camera. Transmits either thru a direct connection to router or WiFi. The box contains the "EZ Set-up" instructions. Unless your are a real techno geek put those aside and download the manual either online or with the CD included in the box. Using those instructions its just a matter of following the instructions to 1. connect the camera to your system and authorizing it as a trusted site 2. establishing email and 3. getting it through the firewall so you can control camera from smart phone. One you load your specifications into your computer software and upload to camera you can turn your computer off. The camera takes over from there. If you go to FOSCAM's web site you can see they manufacture cameras for a lot of big name companies. This is 4 star Value for the $$
