Escort Passport 8500 X50 Red Radar Detector

What can I say? It does what its supposed to do. I'm confident with the Passport 8500, I know that when it goes off, its not because I've already been caught. Its not the top of the line, but I'd put it around second place. It was affordable and has probably saved me its worth in tickets already in just a month or so.

Even though there are new versions out there, the X50 does a good job of picking up radar signals, and that's all that matters to me. For $100 more you can get models with GPS built in that hardly seems worth it. The blue version of the X50 for $30 more doesn't seem worth it either. Maybe if you're going for a color-matching interior then it's a good idea, but if the main goal is to just get a really good detector, buy this model and save your money for a turbo kit.

This unit payed for itself several times. Powerful as in left under the truck seat while out shopping for security reasons. The next day it goes off while driving from police radar as if it was on the dash. The remote silencer button is the greatest single feature built into the plugin at cig lighter with flashing light. Makes it perfect to kill alert vs reaching for the unit on the dash. My Son and I both have this unit for the last 4 years. Never an issue.
