Fast and dependable I need my scanner to process a lot of paper without much monitoring to see if pages are running through two at a time. With only two exceptions--both when the papers had been mailed to me and were bent at precisely the same spot--this hasn't happened in at least 500 multi-page scan jobs. And even then it was evident because the jobs completely too quickly. So dependability has been exactly what I was looking for. I liked it so much I bought two, one for the home and one for the office.

How many sheets per min. can this scanner scan? What is the DPI? Is it a drum or laser?

The Epson driver offers more choices in output resolution with eight levels ranging from 75 dpi up through 600 dpi and does 25 ppm (50 pages duplexed). I will need further research whether this is a laser or a drum and will post that answer shortly.

Scanning rates will vary depending on the document being scanned. This will scan at various DPI. It has neither a drum nor laser because it does not have printing capability.
