Looking for a cost effective solution to scanning tons of negatives of various film formats, hoping the favorable reviews are consistent my experience when the product is received. Overstock seemed to have the best price. This device appears to be an outdated model, hence the good price.

I need to be able to scan pages from old photo albums without bending them. In the specifications, it says "Maximum Scan Size: 17" x 22" ". To me that says I can put something up to 17 x 22 on the scanner and it can scan it. However, the scanner unit itself is only about 11 x 17, so how could it scan 17x22? I guess I don't understand Scan Size.

I am looking at the v600 or v550 Epson flatbed scanner. We have equal need for good copy from slides, negs, pictures and will need to work in both pc and Mac. Image quality is very important as well as workability. Can you tell me beneifts of going with the V600?
