Product Reviews for:
3.6 out of 5brought this for one of my kin this is his second emerson ewv403 it's small ,simple and easy to use a great bargain due to the fact stand alone vcrs at a reasonable price are very hard to find.
The VCR arrived promptly, but it ate four video tapes. We have been trying to contact Overstock staff to get the item returned. It has been a horrendous headache. No one is responding to my inquiries!
It was easy to hook up, easy to use, and looks nice. The first unit I got ATE 5 Video tapes in TWO days. Most of the operations would not work over 5 minutes, timer, recording, playing, etc...... The second unit that was sent works well. It could record and play a little smoother. You can hear a jerkinest of the sound, which may get better with time. Or it may get worse. It could have been cheaper, after it arrived I saw several ads for a simaliar VCR for less money. During the week before I ordered it could not find anything, after I got it I saw several units on sale that beat Overstock. They were new, and Overstock was rebuilt!
Reviewers have talked about a great picture - which is true only SOME of the time. But no one mentioned how terrible the sound quality is - voice quality is poor; music is highly distorted. The unit won't always rewind to the beginning of the tape - it goes so far back and that's it. Also when it stops rewinding, it shuts off. Then when you turn it back on with the remote, it ejects the tape, so you then have to walk over and re-insert the tape. What's the purpose of the remote? The VCR is feather light - if you simply press any button on the front of the panel, it will slide all over the place. Any feature you can think of is NOT on this VCR. No clock. No TV controls on the remote - you have to use 2 remotes. No battery back-up - if you have a power failure, you have to COMPLETELY re-program it. Speaking of programming, this VCR is NOT intuitive. The remote and instructions are both incredibly cryptic. Did I mention that you need to make sure it's turned off or it won't automatically record? Even so, it occasonally doesn't record anyway.
Fast and accurate delivery. Good value. I appreciate being able to locate an obsolete item in such good working order. Thank you.
Right product at the right price. I didn't even know you couldn't buy "regular" VCRs anymore until we actually had to shop for a new one. With everything going digital these days, video recording had changed. For those of us still on basic/standard/coax cable, this is the right buy. You connect your coax cable right to the VCR and it "tunes" in all your cable channels automatically. It's a basic machine, very easy to use and, until you go digital, a "must" for recording your favorite shows!
I needed a simple vcr for my husband (who can't change a lightbulb) and this is it. As you know it is almost impossible to find just a vcr. My husband is really pleased with the simple remote control and operation. The hookup and output is better than I thought it would be. We are both very pleased with the product and the ease of ordering. It was delivered right on schedule.
The Emerson EWV403 4 Head VCR is the best and easiest to use VCR I have ever owned. I have now had 4 of them, and that is simply because the first one I had for several years, the 2nd one I dropped, and I went to every store where I live for another only to find none of this particular model and that is what I had to have. I would recommend this Vcr to everyone. It is a no hassle unit, easy to program, easy to install and works superb. Thank you for being there for me.
There are many reason to still want a VCR. I'm happy I got the Emerson (it was the only VCR I could find). It works. It is easy to time recordings. The picture quality and sound are fine.
THIS PRODUCT IS THE BEST THAT I'VE SEEN AND THE PRICE, WELL, AGAIN IT'S THE CHEAPEST I SEEN. WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANY ONE WHO'S LOOKING OR TRYING TO DECIDE TO BUY THIS VCR YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!
I wanted a new VCR, not a VCR/DVD combo. I went to this site and found exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable, affordable price. Every other place I looked had VCR/DVD combos, but very few VCR only players. This one does it all --records, timer records, plays back with great sound quality, and came with a remote control. It was very easy to connect it to my TV. I think it's an excellent value for the price!
There is no front screen on the unit so you cannot tell what time, mode, FF, Reverse, Stop etc is in effect. Also programming is difficult. I have 7 VCRs and this is the most difficult to program.
The VCR is compact, easy to install and setup. The timed record is a little cumberson to use at first but after a few times is no problem. Audio/visual quality is good. Overall this is a great product paticularly at this price.
Got pretty much what I expected except the boxes were beat up. VCR works fine and easy to set up. Bought 2, one for backup as tapes are becoming dinosaurs and old technology. Postponing the inevitable. These were refurbs.
Duplicate of VCR I was replacing after 5 years (later found out it was not broken, just operator error). Replacement worked fine and was delivered very quickly.
First time order was the Emerson 4 Head VCR, product was received and would play tapes but would not record, e-mail was sent to Overstock on Sunday and reply was received on Monday that a replacement was being shipped along with a UPS sticker to replace the defective unit. Replacement unit works perfectly. Customer service from Overstock is the best that I have ever had and would recommend them to all my friends.
I ordered one of these for my 71 year old mother, and it worked fine at first. After a month and a half, she asked me to order a second as as a backup, since VCRs are are so hard to come by. The second one began eating her tapes within the first week she had it. The first one followed suit a week later. Zero VCRs for the price of two. I returned the second, but it's too late to return the first.
This recorder worked exactly 3 times. After that is destroyed every tape that was put into it. Even when it did work (the 3 times) recording quality was poor, picture jerky and of low quality even on new tapes. Finding a stand-alone VCR is difficult any more but for the operation I needed it for that is all I needed. But regardless of the price, it would be cheaper to buy a combination unit that actually worked longer than 3 poor quality recordings.
This VCR is in like new condition. It works like new too.Came with a nice remote and the cable needed to hook it up to the tv.This one has a tv tuner built in also, something that is very hard to find in a new vcr / dvd combo. It doesn't have a clock on the front of the unit like the other vcrs I own but it does have an internal clock you can set so you can tape shows in advance.Overall a good buy. :)
VHS players are now dinosaurs. I did not want a DVD/VHS combo. Rather I wanted a VHS player to play some old classics. The Emerson fit my needs perfectly. And, the price was right.
