Product Reviews for:
3.8 out of 5It is a great value for the money, easy to use and shows a crystal clear picture with playback. And since VCRs are not that easy to find any more, I feel very fortunate to have found a really great one like this. I would unhesitatingly buy another like it should the need arise.
I got the VCR as backup for when mine died. I have a lot of VHS that haven't gone to DVD. I tried it out. It's as easy as other previous buyers said it was. It's back in the box at the moment, waiting for the present VHS to die, but when it comes back out of the box I have no doubts as to how useful and dependable it will be.
I needed a programable VCR that was easy to operate for my elderly mother, who wants to record day time shows and then watch them in the evening. This just the ticket for her. Finding a programable VCR recorder is not a easy find.
Outstanding buy. I have a priceless collection of old VCR's and it plays them with great clarity and sound.
It is hard to find VCRs. Thank goodness these refurbished ones are available on Overstock.com. Arrived in 2 days! Easy set up and works fine.
I have never purchased anything refurbished before and I am amazed at the excellent quality. It will clearly play most of my old home-taped collection - and I might add - considerably better than my previous machine. I love the fast rewind and one-button ease of recording and set-up time was minimal. If you need a VCR, I highly recommend this one - you'll get more than a "bang" for your "buck".
My old VCR was acting up. I went to stores and no one carries VCR's anymore and I already have 4 DVD's and one portable, so I didn't want a VCR/DVD combo. The new VCR is not stereo but work well. If you're not ready for DVR service from your cable company (about $10/month) and just want to record something to watch when you can, this VCR does the trick. There's not many out there, so for the price, this VCR is adequate.
VCR's are obsolete. My Dad wanted to replace two of his and was having trouble finding a VCR to buy. When I checked Overstock.com for him, he was delighted to be able to buy two reconditioned VCRs. What really surprised him was that the two VCRs were ordered on Saturday night, and arrived at his rural residence on Tuesday morning. That quick. He said he hooked them up right away, and both of them functioned exactly as expected. He has no complaints or problems.
When I got the vcr I was so happy. Then I plugged it in and tried the remote, nothing happened. I had to go buy a universal remote. Sometimes when I turn it off, (if I have programsalready programed), it starts recording right away. I have to stop the recording. I also hate the fact that you can't change the recording speed if you want to record instantly.
We were looking for a relatively inexpensive unit to replace an older, higher tech one to simply allow us to play/copy our old tapes and play older movies on tape from our local public library. We were pleased to find this unit at an attractive price on Overstock, and it has filled the bill very nicely.

Bought two of them and neither one worked. The tapes wouldn't load. You could see that the tapes went in crooked.
This is a no-frills VHS recorder. It suit my needs for a backup player for my remaining video tapes.
The VCR was refurbished and not of good quality. I needed a vcr and this was the only one I could find.
I've had no problems with this refurbished vcr. The remote is easy to use & the tracking adjustment works well. The picture quality is very good. Although it's not stereo, the sound is good.
This is a poor VCR. When I tape a show on my TV and later watch the show the picture jumps around and is not worth to watch the show. Sorry I ever bought this Vcr , Do not buy.
I give this item 5 stars because it does exactly what I want and does it well. Very easy to use if you are at all familiar with VCR's. I'm grateful that Overstock is selling VCR's. There isn't one available in the retail stores!
I am jeaolous of those purchasers who got good machines! I need a VCR with a tuner, and bought other combos (with DVD) that are OK. I still needed a separate VCR and bought this one with the extra warranty. I didn't need it. In 5 minutes I found a major flaw that should have been caught by the quality inspector. The recording quality was horrible and it was instantly obvious. The return was easy enough, so I tried a replacement, same model. It too was quickly found to be flawed. Buttons on the remote began to signal the wrong function (e.g. hitting stop to the playback would cause it to turn off, and hitting on again would cause the tape to eject). Then the picture quality to the second one turned bad very quickly when the tapes would jump and flicker regardless of the brand or recording of the tape used. Both of these machines were found to be defective very quickly, so it seems the quality control for refurbished machins is very good. Both machines were worthless to me.
It is hard to find a VCR especially one that still records. I purchased 2 VCR's just to make sure I never run out of the item. I am very pleased it works great and in excellent condition. Will continue to shop on this web site.
