Caution!
from Lake Tahoe, Nevada,  Feb 8, 2011

First of all, if your battery has already failed and you are at all in a rush to replace the battery DO NOT do it through the mail. Next, upon opening the package I was put off by the fact that there were absolutely not instructions on how to remove the old battery and install the new one. This replacement procedure is not for the faint of heart. It is a very delicate and tedious process. This was my first iPhone battery exchange and it took me, an experienced electrical engineer almost 4 hours. Next, the kit does NOT contain all the tools you will need. At a minimum you will need a very small jewelers philips screwdriver, and a magnifying glass or something equivalent. I found instructions eventually on the internet that showed how to disassemble the iPhone. It is a very lengthy process. Set up a well lighted area and also an area where a dropped screw smaller than a BB will not get lost. My greatest fear was that I would either misplace one of the very small parts, or reassemble the device incorrectly. I had to eventually trim a plastic tab on the battery so that it would seat properly so that the motherboard would fit in properly. I have found no instructions anywhere about this problem. There are many micro ribbon cables that are disassembled and eventually reassembled. You cannot really tell if it is done properly. I also wondered if the average person would be aware of the problems associated with not grounding yourself properly and thereby causing a static charge to destroy one of the circuits. All in all, I would have gladly paid the additional cost to have an experience person take on the responsibility to do it instead of me. I would not even attempt it again. However, I was successful. The replacement battery is great. It holds a much better charge than the one I had, even when it was new. We will now see how long this battery lasts (the real test).

Works Great
from Southern California,  Nov 24, 2010

I had a totally dead phone and made a decision to try and replace the battery. Great choice, if you are somewhat technical you can do it. if not bring it to someone who is and buy them a beer. Either way you are going to be completely satisfied. Product shipped promptly and was as advertised. I will be buying more as i am going to start making some extra cash and do iPhone repair. LOL

battery replacement for iPhone
 from NY,  Aug 4, 2010

Strongly suggest to be done by apple. \Ruined phone 3GS in trying to open. Thought being tech savy and having 16 step instructions would be enough. Can not comment on battery since it was never used.

Be careful..
from Tallahassee, FL,  Apr 21, 2010

The battery is of high quality, the tools... not so much. But if you follow the videos that are out there on youtube, you should be able to get this done. **MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT SEPARATE THE PHONE AT THE CHROME RING!!!** When the screws are removed, the screen actually lifts out (it takes a bit of force due to a rubber o-ring), but the glass is what you remove. If you separate the phone at the chrome you will break it... as I did.. That being said, once I repaired the board, the battery is holding fine. It is actually holding a charge longer that the original.

Don't bother
 from CO,  Mar 29, 2010

Don't bother trying to replace the battery on your iPhone. I followed the instructional video and destroyed my phone. The connections on my phone were slightly different than the video. Pay the $80 and have Apple replace the battery - it will save you money in the long run.

You Should be Bold
 from LA,  Feb 18, 2010

This works fine, and the battery holds up nicely now. This repair is not for the faint of heart - you should know how to work with fine tools, good German ones, and be prepared to spend money on a system board if you get sloppy. Use a lot of light, breathe normally, and everything will be fine. Follow the online instructions and get the plastic toolkit - you need them to keep from breaking things! I gave it five stars because everything went well - your mileage may vary though...
