Recent Customer Reviews in Drive Enclosures

  • Workd but no directions

Since there were no assembly instructions I contacted "O" to see if I could get some. After a week of thinking about it they said they had none! I did an internet search and found Amazon had the same item and in their product review were information about assembly. It turns out the knobs on the 2 rectangular pieces fit into the 2 front screw holes of the drive and then slide into some grooves in the case. The drive was still slightly loose so I cut 2 small pieces of Styrofoam and out them on the end of the drive. That solved the problem. The only other problem is the power cord doesn't fit very snugly into it's socket and can easily fall out. So be careful when moving the drive around while transferring data.

I was nervous about attempting to use the hard drive from an older computer in this way. I've always been good at taking things apart - not so good at putting back together. It couldn't have been any easier. Following the instructions included, I removed the HD, popped it into the enclosure, formatted to remove the old operating system, and it worked beautifully! I use it as an external drive for video and audio file storage and for backups.

excellent, but could have brought it for about price as a local Fry's electronics store.

  • Drive enclosure works as advertised

This drive enclosure was easy to set up and worked right out of the box. Nothing speclal, and it looks a little bit cheap, but it's small and gets the job done. Comes with all the mounting screws and cables you'll need. Things to be aware of: It doesn't have a fan or anything like that so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for anything which will be left running 24/7. The two access lights on the front are really bright--if you plan on using this in a location where a pair of synchronized bright green flickering dots will be distracting, you might need to cover them up or disconnect them. (e.g. a HTPC, or a PC that's always-on in a bedroom)
