  • Takes Only Half-Height Cards

    Apr 15, 2014

    dropscrew  from Austin, TX, Rating:5.0

Computer is a real value. Not being familiar with every Dell model, I just researched to see if there was an open slot for my video card with dual monitor outputs - and there was. BUT, this case is so narrow/short that it only takes half-height cards in the PCIe slot. So a regular video card will not fit. You should be aware of this when considering this model. Another note: the "keyboard" that is included with the computer was carefully packed but smashed. It doesn't matter that much because I have my own wireless keyboard and mouse. If the refurbisher would leave off the not-needed-for-the-most-part mouse and keyboard, they could knock a few more dollars off the price. Otherwise, the computer works great.

I bought one of these to use as a media and occasional gaming PC. The unit hasn't had any hardware problems, case looks cool and it's not overly loud (but not exactly quiet.) It has a nice gaming keyboard and mouse but the GPU is just not powerful enough to handle real gaming and this unit is sold as a gaming PC. I fired up mass effect 2 with the unit hooked to my HDTV and it had to shrink the screen quite a bit in order to run. If I expand the screen to full screen, it has too much hesitation. Portal 2 on steam worked well full screen with full motion. I imagine an upgrade to the GPU would fix this, but haven't done much research yet. The unit does well as a media PC but it's just not quite powerful enough for gaming.

I had this product for just over a month and the tower began shutting down due to a poor motherboard fan. It stopped and quit cooling the board.

did not work, try to boot and it froze at set up, try to do a system restore and after that it froze at discovering network, had blue screen of death a couple times telling me it was dumping memory, i called ovesrstock and they sent me a return label right away, they offer to send another one so i ask if they could test it first and they said there dept don't do that. so refurbish doesn't mean it will work would not buy another pc from overstock
