Sanyo D500 Dvd R RW,  Dec 2, 2008

Have hooked this machine up according to instructions and it plays DVD's fine but have had no success getting it to record a program. Have it hooked up to a Dish Network box with S video, and the Red, Yellow, and White cables one side to Dish box other side to TV and the darn thing will not record. Uing DVD r RW discs and regular DVD discs and neither worked. Also the controls on the machine are frozen, will not work. You can push the power on button until you turn blue and nothing happens. The tray open/close button same relsults. All work from the remote but none from the front controls. This is my second failure and am about ready to give up for good.

once you figure out just press stop twice for everything you want to do next, its a breeze. Good quality pic..all the bells and whistles of a high end recorder. I bought two cause I'm slow about finalizing and didnt want to loose stuff I record if it broke....This was my first dvd recorder and ya kinda always love the first.

Seems to work just fine, but I would recommend a newer model, this has got to be old. My reasoning for this is that it is slow, and only comes with a 24 hour clock. A newer model would probably be more likely to be multi-format, which I thought this was, but is only +RW. It serves my purposes, so i have no big complaints and never expected too long a life either.

This takes older DVD-Rs that are pretty hard to find. The playback is phenomenal though and I found the resolution to be WOW. All in all a good buy except for the hard-to-find recording discs.
