I got this to work with my 2nd. generation IPOD shuffle. I have an older computer where the USB port is in the back, and frankly a pain to get to. I like the fact that I can plug this into an outlet instead. I noticed that the USB plug that came with the unit really does not work with the IPOD shuffle. When I attached it to the shuffle it did not go all the way in, the way the picture shows. However it works just fine with the charger that came with the IPOD. Despite the glitches, I'm glad I purchased it.
