With so many choices in the headphone market available, something must set this pair apart as a good purchase. I would say that the ATH-A700X is consistently without disappointment. They embrace the reproduction of music. The music sounds as it should with deficits forgiven. The soundstage is wide enough to satisfy most listeners. Depth is fine. The mids are a little recessed. The bass is there and refined, but not boomy. This isn't a bassheads can. While listening to the Tony Bennett duets, the setting was intimate enough to draw me into the music. These phones are never "in your face" or dominating of the music.
Overall, I find myself reaching for them quite often when wanting to just enjoy a comfortable listening session. The 3D Wing Support takes a bit of getting used to, and if you have a narrow head (ear to ear) they may not be a choice that will satisfy. It's not an issue for me. I like these headphones... Well done Audio Technica!
